Best thing about Olympus lenses is that the depth-of-field lever is on the lens itself, unlike other makes.

I bought a Fuji X100T in July 2019 and by September, I had a full on case of Fuji love. I just dumped 20 years of Canon gear for two XT2’s and a set of Fuji primes. I had some vintage lenses with my Canon gear but with Fuji I can use focus peaking. I’ve already started experimenting with more vintage lenses and again, total love fest. I have been this excited about photography in 25 years. Thank you so much for taking the time to make and share these videos. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge here on KZfaq!

Hi Zenography, thank you! Today I took my Olympus Zuiko 5.0/200mm on my Nikon Z6 and took some pictures outside. This lens, like the 4.0 version delivers wonderful colors and is very sharp even wide open. It’s very compact and with the Olympus teleconverter 2X-A my smallest and compactest 400mm supertelephoto lens. Best wishes, Ralf

I have a version of the Kiron lens, a 28-105 zoom which looks essentially the same as the 28-85 you reviewed. It's awesome.

My very first digital camera (1999) was an Olympus 2020Z and I still have it (boxed) and Im very tempted to invest in the OM 135 f3.5 lens to use on my Fuji XH-1 .. love the small form factor and the lens offers a very good value for small money - I think circa £70 with a 6 month guarantee from one of the better camera retailer .. FFordes - thanks for the review and by the way I also have a fondness for some Vivitar's --- the 70-210 Macro is a little corker

Nice video! What body are you using for these photos? I have an Zuiko 50mm f1.8 and 28mm f3.5. Both are very nice short lenses. Depending on the focus assist systems on the camera being used the focus can at times be difficult for me to get on target..

Great review, I have three of the lenses and use them on MFT bodies with great results. The 135mm is an absolute bargain and a lovely size for amFT bodies. I think you should do a similar review of Pentax smc lenses which are equally compact

Zenography My comments were meant to be for your video on the Olympus Zuiko lenses . I am pleased that you are considering the Pentax smc range. I experiment with a few vintage lenses and have collected and still collect them. So easy to use on my Olympus em10 mk2.

I own a Soligor 135mm f/2.8 and I love it, but I always wondered if there is a difference to the Zuiko 135mm f2.8. Now I also wonder what the differenc between the Zuiko 135mm f2.8 and the Zuiko 135mm F/3.5 is. Do you know anyhting about that? Thanks

my fave lens at the moment is a pentacon 135mm f2.8. use it on my sony a6000. £10

That sounds like a bargain. Many of the Pentacon lenses are very nice indeed and stand up really well against other vintage glass - often of much higher price!

I came across that 20 mm 3.5 Pentax SMC that is probably one of the sharpest lenses really hard to find . And a weird mine Minolta have to double-check I believe it's a 90 mm macro got curved glass and I got the Bellows with it again on lens that seem super very rare. Mine was brand new in the box astonishing when I looked it up I found one on eBay going for a grand. This came part a a whole camera bag of a few lenses has and a body that I bought . Can't wait to try it out on a side note I have some enlarger lenses I don't want to use for actual portraits and Landscape focal length but I'm having real trouble finding helicoid any suggestions would be appreciated

I have the Zuiko 135/2.8 and 200/4 as well (two versions of the latter in fact) and the Jena Prakticar 135/3.5 which is even cheaper and also fantastic, focuses even closer than the Oly and also the Canon 135/3.5 LTM, which is outstanding value in the rangefinder world. I might just sell all of them (maybe keep one), because the focusing is just too tricky and these focal lengths are so well-suited to close portraits and isolating moving objects. Even with a 5D Mark 1 with its one cross-type point I could nail the closer eye better. For still life (or maybe with a camera with a good enough EVF or screen), these will all deliver no doubt and they are almost given away at these prices.

Those lenses all sound very nice indeed, though I know what you mean about focusing. It's only become a problem for me as the years have passed, and when shooting digital I now find the focus peaking feature on the Sony a7 to be an extremely helpful feature - mirrorless cameras have definitely given old glass a new lease of life!

@@zenography7923 I am transitioning from the A7S to the EOS R right now and while the EVF and screen and focus peaking are all better than the Sony, I still can't quite nail precise focus at the distances that I need and bringing up the magnifier is more fiddly, it is not particularly manual-focus friendly (and the AF is too good), maybe I need to get used to it more. With the Zuiko lenses I could nail the focus manually with the 5D Mark I optical viewfinder on a number of occasions, even though I wasn't sure of it at all when I took the pictures.

I don't know how other mirrorless system work, but on Fuji cameras, despite focus peeking been active, you can enlarge the picture to nail focus. Additionally, you can shoot in some B&W film simulation, in which case red focus peeking really stands out. To my knowledge, newest Sony cameras have that mode of operation while still shooting colour JPEGs. So there's no excuse not to use manual lenses. Except for fast front moving subjects, maybe...

Is it a heavy lens? Would cinematography/videography be a good idea?
@shunyuyao7223
@shunyuyao7223 3 жыл бұрын
@@Meqa It's probably the lightest 135mm lens, however, if you shot video I'm not sure that 135mm view is useful, except you need the view of 135mm, and be sure you have a gimbal or image stablizer body. I actually shot video a lot by using OM 35mm/2 and 50mm/1.4, both them are good.

What do I need to do to get my jupiter 8 and 11 lens to work on my Nikon. I seem to only get close macro focus 🤔
@meta4101
@meta4101 Жыл бұрын
If your Nikon is a DSLR, you will not be able to get infinity focus since the flange distance on of you Jupiter 8 is less than the flange distance of your Nikon DSLR. You'll need a mirrorless body to get infinity focus with an LTM Jupiter 8.

1) Your copy of the Industar lens looks quite old and worn off. There's many later copies of it out there which look like straight from the store, brand new. Note everybody that there's none Industar lens produced in the last 25 years or so... 2) I have that Oly 135mm f3,5 too, I bought it 2 years ago at photo fair for around $35 and I ADORE that lens; I'll sign to all you had said about it...

Prices of old lenses do fluctuate quite widely, and there are bargains to be found with the Summitar, as with any other lens.
