It becomes a huge grind counting cards, it's like a damn job. Counting cards isn't inherently hard, anyone with average intelligence could get counting down with around 100 hours of practice. It will become subconscious after about 300-500 hours of play. It's a hard way to make an easy living, but it beats the alterative for some people, for someone like your ex father in law its perfect. For the guy that needs 10k plus a month to live comfortably the hours of play, camouflage of play, and the travel become unbearably boring and a soul sucking grind.

What you're referring to is called "variance" making the right calls/plays but still lose. But what you don't get is the game is based on hundreds/thousands of hours. Not a over night session. Using basic stratagy is only giving you half of 1%. House edge is anywhere from 1-4%. The average card counter plays with a 2% advantage throughout his career. As a AP we try to seek out the best rules possible that will give us a higher edge.

Spanish 21 is the best I am in California they are all over here too. I went to New Orleans this past summer I was disappointed not to find that game there. Also Vegas has maybe only 2 casinos with Spanish 21

Maybe the casinos around you, but certainly not everywhere. I just played blackjack last week, six decks, where penetration was at least 80%. I had one shoe in particular with over 90%! And hole carding is everywhere. People get tired and make mistakes. It's not as obvious to the eye as the example they showed.

Do you mean being able to see the cards as they are being dealt? That is called hole carding and there are people who specialize in it who make good money. How ever that is REALLY tip toeing the line between advantage playing and cheating. Casinos do NOT take kindly to that so we don't suggest it. We have heard stories of people coming up the the BJ table in a wheelchair they didn't actually need in order to be at a better angle to see the cards being dealt and when they got caught they jumped out of the wheel chair and ran out of the casino 🤣

ETM, you're correct, but think of it like this, if dealer has say, 15 or 16, what cards are going to help him? Low cards right? 4-5-6. , if you see all the low cards , the cards that help him have left the deck increase your bet, now the dealer can still get 19 or 20 , but so cant you, but since mostly high cards are left you can stand on 13-14-15-16- etc. The dealer HAS to hit, theres your advantage, he,ll bust.

Because you don't have to hit a 12-16 and the dealer must, and will bust. You have a choice, the dealer does not. Bust the dealer.

So you are correct, when the count gets high, the dealer has just as much of a chance of getting a good hand as you do, but with some very important caveats: Blackjacks pay 3:2 - If you get a Blackjack, the casino has to pay you 150% of whatever you just bet. We get a lot of our value from getting Blackjacks. If the dealer gets a blackjack, the house wins just what you originally bet. Nothing more. Insurance becomes more profitable - People think that when they're taking insurance they're trying to protect their strong hands. Wrong. You're betting that the dealer has a blackjack, and seeing as insurance pays 2:1, you're gaining an edge by counting because you can generally guage when it's far more likely for the dealer to have a natural. Insurance becomes a great tool when counting. It saves you money. Otherwise it's a suckers bet. We push more frequently - Due to the high concentration of ten value cards left in the shoe, pushes give us a good chunk of value. Dealer more likely to break - If in the event the dealer gets the bum hands like 4 5 6, and you get some sweet twenty pairs, splitting tens becomes lucrative, because the deck is so rich the dealer is almost guaranteed to bust. We tend to gain most of our value from our bet spread, and the specific table rules that the casino offers to their players. Hope this helps.

That's not a terrible idea since you won't lose but you also won't win a huge amount. We just don't like using matchplays on craps because you can end up getting stuck there waiting for the point to resolve.

I've heard of a lot of people that get amazing casino credit offers on cruises like $500 to $1000. They will go to the roulette wheel and put 45% on Red, 45% on Black, and 10% on 0/00 split. They either walk with cash just shy of the free play or win big.

Good way to get banned from using coupons, Just man up and play them. That bet on 12 is just a donation to the house. This idea of guaranteeing a win seems nice, but it is a bad idea for many reasons. Casinos don't like players who do this because it is so obvious that you cannot lose.

I've only played on my TV, put play Texas hold em in cash game since i was 16. I'm pretty sure of you have good knowledge of the game you will win over time. Just gotta know when that queen high is probably good, too fold trash don't play on. That's the mistake i see most often because you have to ante players keep playing to many to the end. I'm up in my tv version and do well playing cash.

You don't need to bring 10k every time you gamble, you just need a total bankroll of at least 10k to survive the swings. If you are counting cards you will have good days and bad days but in the long run you will make money (assuming you don't make mistakes)

The larger the amount, the more comfortable you can be at the tables. Someone going in with his paycheck (rent is already paid, lol) allows a beginning bad streak to seize up his nerves and is too scared to bet big when things start going his way.

I think the days of players being roughed up are long, long in the past.

You definitely won't get roughed up, but you will more than likely get 86'd completely and not just from playing table games. Matt has a friend who is a hole carder who got 86'd and then several months later they sent him a promo mailer and he went back and ended up getting escorted back to his car by security and followed off property and told if he ever came back even to go to a restaurant he would be arrested immediately.

I think it depends on what your goals are and what system you use. If you spend a small bit of time (hey we've been locked down for months everyone should have time) learning one of the less intensive systems like Speed Count it might be fun. You can still enjoy the environment, have a couple of cocktails, and maybe gain a bit of advantage when needed. Just enough to say well I think I'll take even money on that $150 blackjack because of the count instead of risking a push.

$50/day X 7 days a week would be $350 Not bad as a part-time job, I'd say.

that is not true. The mistakes other players at the table make will even out in the end. For every time some one makes a bad play and "takes" a bust card from the dealer, they will also "take" a good card from the dealer and make the table win. Players just only ever remember when they get screwed by bad players and don't remember when bad players help them out.
