Donna Barton held her own and made a nice career in broadcasting. At her best, Julie Krone was as good as any jockey in New York, and a Belmont Stakes winner.

Donna Barton rode a winner for me back in the 80's. She was as professional a jock as has ever ridden for me.

Everytime a women jockey wins a common or a classic race, I feel very happy. I am a man, but I am not a chauvinist. Greetings from Venezuela.

I knew of a woman jockey named Connie Bauer. I think it was 1976 or 77. At Arlington Park Racetrack in Illinois.

The should talk about Vicky Aragon. She actually beat another jockey named Victor Mercado with her whip during the race for cutting her off. She managed to still finish second in the race. She was disqualified of course, but her first few years at Longacres Race Track outside of Seattle, she was winning everything she got on. Longacres was a tough circuit. It long now, but guys like Gary Stevens started there. He was an apprentice when I started going to the track at five. Russell Baze started there, as well d the rest of the whole Baze family. The horse Skywalker won the Longacres Mile the Summer of 1989 I believe and then won the Breeders Cup Classic that November. Longacres was a wonderful place. Anyways go look up Vicky Aragon (Baze). She was a very very tough woman out there on the race track.

That makes me think of the Jean Nate After Bath Splash on Mary Louise Weller as a female race horse jockey,

I grew up going to Longacres Race Track right outside of Seattle. They sold in back in 1992, and then eventually tore it down. 🥲 That track actually had a lot of female jockeys. I mean a lot. There was also a track about two hours going I-5 South called Portland Meadows, which also was sold and tore down a few years back. They may have had an even bigger female jockey colony. Let’s see how many names I can remember. Vicky Aragon, Lisa Perrine, Karen and Kim Doll, Debbie Hoonab, Kathy Mayo, Mary Jo Teleski, Sandi Gann, Jennifer Whitaker, Elisa Kubinova, Lisa Baze, and I’m positive I’m missing quite a few others. It is very different now. Not a lot of lady’s riding anymore. Not on the West Coast there isn’t. I see more in Texas, Florida, and Louisiana I suppose. I’m just reminiscing about my childhood. I’ve been going to the track since u I was five. My Grandmother says the racing is how I learned to read and do math. She’s absolutely correct. 😂🤣😂🤣
