So I opened the glove compartment and found a number of things not quite right and broken. This was on the list. The screws were so stubborn being ratcheted out, and hard to get to/see, but this made life easier for the installation for me! Thank you very much!!

I just did this job and this video was helpful. I started with the smaller ph1 bit, but it started to strip. I changed to the ph 2 and got a better hold. Used a small harbor freight right-angle small ratchet driver. I also took a 6" mirror on a stand, removed it from the base, and hung it up from a cable in the corner with a zip tie. That and a bright light from below gave me a decent view. Frustrating job, and not easy on the back, but I got it done in about 2 hours with the glove box removal and putting it all back together. I think having the mirror and being able to access from top and bottom was what made it possible for me.

This is one of those things that can drive you crazy once it starts. This is caused mostly from them using cheap plastic instead of putting a few more pennies into the materials. Hope it helps you fix your jeep.

Been hearing this since I got my 2010 jeep patriot and finally I said enough and searched to see what it was and found this video. Going to go tomorrow and get one because I cam inlock mine and as soon as I open the door that's when I hear it. It didn't start until I got the jeep home and turned the heat in to make sure it worked and sure enough there was the noise

Thanks for the video. I had the same problem with a 2016 Jeep Patriot. You have to be a contortionist to get to the screws. I used a Phillips bit with a socket wrench since a stubby screwdriver was too long.

OK. Found out what was causing the Clicking noise. The Air Conditioning filter was not re-installed properly back into the tray inside the glove box. Whenever I take my car to get an oil change, or an inspection, they always try to upsell you on stuff. That Air conditioning filter is one of them. They just put it back in incorrectly causing a jam that causes it to catch internally making a clicking noise. UGH. Glad I watched this video, and almost bought a new actuator, but that was not the issue. Just going to buy a new filter online, instead of the 4X markup they do at those service stations. Also changing my own oil again from here on out.

Hi @scottolson , for me the clicking starts when in open my door (most of the time) but once i start the car and run on the AC it doesn’t click anymore. Will this cause any issue with starting up the car, because my Jp compass starts but shuts off right away. I went to the garage but all they did was service my car 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mine is happening on the driver's side when I open the door. Nothing on Nokia in the ignition. I also had the actuator under the dashboard clicking but for some reason it had stopped weeks ago. Anyone know what my problem might be?

Recomended OEM Parts,because,(i was told)when smoging your vehicle it wont let it pass smog,again,i was told,so im going to have to pay a lil extra,just in case,you never know

2011 jeep compass isn’t worth crap. Save your money spendt $9000.00 on a compass ona $9000.00 car. Stay away from it
