Thank you sir! The power went out for a couple of hours during a wind storm. When the dryer wouldn't start I looked in the owners manual under troubleshooting, but it does not have this procedure. I followed your instructions and got the dryer working again. My wife thinks I'm a hero, but it was actually you. And of course, these things always seem to happen on a Saturday night. Thanks again. Same thing happens with mine. Except I get the E7 code. I unplug, plug it back. Still get the shrill siren noise and the E& code. The last time I unplugged for days and it worked right. I don't have days. I need the double secret reset.

You are my hero! All the lights were flashing and the red light to clean vent was on. I cleanered it including all ducts even vacuumed down the inside of the dryer by removing the ducts, after the lights kept flashing. Anyway I figured it was some kind of reset issue. you seriously helped me and saved me time on hold with GE and likely a service call. I am saving your video in case this happens again. Seriously. Thank you. You are doing a major service for people. You are definitely earning good Karma!!

Due to an airplane crash taking out our power, when we got power back we had this issue, until I found this video I was looking at nearly 200 dollars for a repairman to come out. Instead after this short video I have my dryer back and all is good with the world again!! THANKS!!!!!

Jim this video is the best. Appreciate your help. I too had power outage last night and dryer wouldn't work. Called GE and their recommendation was to hold power button for 5 seconds to reset did nothing. I followed your steps voila......dryer is working. I expect better from GE. Forget owner manuals I actually spoke to their technical service support and they made no mention of your steps, instead scheduling a future paid service call telling me my computer panel probably needs a fuse or replaced entirely. Thanks GE for worthless advice and fee hungry service model service and parts.

Thank you!! So many things had gone wrong in my home while I was deployed--pipe froze and ruptured in January, molding and damaging everything around it, including (apparently) my dryer. Hoping to avoid buying a new dryer, I changed the control module today, excited to find power restored but concerned to find the cryptic numbers that I could switch between 0 and 4 on the display. Fearing some other problem, I found your video and got it working minutes later. I'm doing laundry now, much relieved.

I don’t have the same dryer but it’s a GE Duet front loader. Last time I dried my shoes in there and when I tried to start it up it would click and the “sensing” would light up. I called a repair man and paid $280 to get it fixed. So I didn’t learn my lesson and I put another pair of shoes in there a year later and the same thing happened. I watched this video and you said to press on the power key until I saw a “1”. I don’t have the same dryer but I went ahead and pressed on the power button for 5 seconds and then the start button and it worked! You are the boss! Thank you 😂

Great video! You probably won't see this but in the off chance you do or someone else does, my dryer doesn't power on at all. I have unplugged and switched to different outlets and it still won't turn on. The numbers or anything won't show up it is just shut off so any help would be appreciated.

Is it plugged in? Did you trip your circut breaker and need to reset the fuse at the breaker? Otherwise you may be dealing with a dead unit.

@@Stimwalt Thank you for your response, so yeah it is plugged in and I thought it was the outlet too. So I plugged in a phone charger to see if it works and the outlet works because the phone was charging. So I plugged the dryer back in and it still wouldn't power on. Just a blank screen.

Dryer turns on. All lights up as it should. Press the start button and nothing. Gas dryer. I never had to do the personal re-set. Thoughts?

@@davehartsock9106 No worries, I ended up taking the dryer apart and finding the issue. The issue is that the belt broke and this particular model (as do many) have a idler pulley bracket switch, so if the belt snaps it opens that switch and won't allow the motor to be powered on (or anything else), as a failsafe. So that explains why the motor won't even spin even when it's working fine. The belt is typical engineered failure point, and I will now have to replace that. They are getting thinner and cheaper by the day! I remember 10 years ago thinking the belts were getting thinner but they still are, amazing!

Mines powers on and shows 90 or time cycles, but when I hit start it won’t actually start. Is there a way to troubleshoot…I’ve checked my breaker fuse that’s fine obviously because I have power…could I need to replace the mechanism that actually causes it to start when you press the “start” button? Or is there a way to get back to the reset option?

@@ritarodriguez163 Hey Rita, I actually don't remember exactly how I did what I did, it's just been so long. My issue was the belt that turns the drum for the clothes to dry needed to be replaced. My guess is the code is insight into what is wrong with your dryer and why it won't start. So I couldn't just reset it, I had to fix it. So if yours shows the same numbers as mines did, you may need a new belt for the dryer. If yours is showing the issue titled in the video, then you may just need to do a "personality reset". When you remove the control housing, your booklet to the machine should be located in there and that should give you more insight into the numbers you're getting. Good luck!

@@briancncyes. I took it apart and found that the tension pully for the drum was disconnected. So that got it to spin clothes, i gave up yhough upon finding out it still wouldnt supply heat
