Thank you, mate. I just went through this process with my Heat Pump Clothes Dryer, and your guide was perfect for this task. I felt completely comfortable with the dismounting and mounting processes. Here are some lessons learned that might be helpful to others: 1. After dismounting all the elements, I decided to also disconnect the entire front panel of the dryer. There are just a few screws at the front that allow for this. You do not need to disconnect any cables; you can simply move this panel to the side. This provides far better access to clean the heat pump elements. You can also vacuum clean all the dust from the hidden sides. 2. I opted to use a Kärcher SC4 pressure steam cleaner. It worked very well, although even having such a strong tools it took about 2 hours (and several refills of the water tank) to complete the cleaning process. The final result was however worth it. All the water drains into the water container, so there's no issue there. I used a bit of plastic foil to separate other places (like back side radiator) and not allow steam to go everwhere. You also need to be more cautious when cleaning the back side radiator, as it does not have channels for water underneath. But rest assured, the steam cleaner is safe and does not damage the radiator components at all. 3. It's beneficial to dismount the small water pump at the back side as you did and clean the water container, as there's a lot of dust in the water too. To do this, you can place the base on some coasters, tilt the base to pour out the water, and then use sponges, etc. It is also good to rinse it with water. If available, you could use another water pump to pump out the water and clean the container (I unfortunately did not have any ). 4. Screws - there are two types of screws. It's helpful to note which type is where. My observation is that one type is used to assemble metal elements and the other is for attaching metal to plastic. By taking these notes, it's easier to select the right screws in the right places, when you are putting all the things back together. 5. Last but not least, I have added an additional seal around the removable filter because I think it is the area through which most of the dust passes (the original rubber seal is not sufficient). I created it from the type of sealant you can buy for home window insulation. However, this is an element where you can get creative with your own ideas ;-) : prnt.sc/Nf8JNTwNu_ew 6. Some clothes dryers, of that type do not have access to clean the heat pump from the front panel. I advise in such case to invest in the maintenance flap available i.e. on Amazon: Bosch Siemens 646776 00646776 : prnt.sc/smQvZk6wNvq6 There are movies on YT that explain how to mount it i.e. : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o76WrJWA39TLeoE.html I believe this is the best guide on the internet to fix Bosh heat pump clother dryer, and thanks to you, I saved the equivalent of 200 USD ( I double checked it) by not needing to call a service technician. Thank you again, and a BIG LIKE to you from Poland! 💪🙂👍

I would have never been able to revise our dryer without this video. Thanks!! You saved me a lot of money on a new dryer. After implementing advises from others (special cleaning program on the tool using hot water and a cleaning product, cleaning the condenser from only the front side...), this total disassembly was the only approach that really helps. Thanks so much for this, what a great video. Easy to follow and really detailed. Our dryer started taking a really long time, it's 3 years old but has had heavy use. It lives inside a laundry cupboard, which is fine according to Bosch's website. The amount of lint in here was perplexing - I clean the filter after every use and always have done. What a huge fire hazard - I'm going to call Bosch and ask if I've been doing something wrong for it to get so built up. We can't thank you enough for the upload! Have a wonderful Christmas.

Thanks a LOT for this walkthrough! I've finally decided it's time to clean up mine (after nearly 8 years of daily usage and coming to a point where I had to put it through four or five cycles to dry clothes like 80%) and oh boy was it full of dust and lint. Much worse than in this video. Oops 😅Thanks again mate, my dryer now works great again. Note that you can also remove the panel below the two radiators which exposes the bottom and in my dryer it was full of black sludge. I cleaned that as well.

Exact my thoughts about the sensor and plastic shield. I'll also go cheaning ALL the support wheels for the drum, and add a bit lune before reassembly. Also a bit lune or copper grease for the main bearing. And thoroughly wacuum clean, plus use a soft aircompressor for the condensers.... Think it is worth is as it already IS taken apart. - 😇 Great video although the volume was very low... 👂🙉🎧 Thank you so much Mr. Washy Washy - 💪🤗🙏

Also I performed this cleaning procedure, on a Siemens iQ800 WT47Y700NL. It has some slight design differences (there are two back plates, one metal and one plastic, and there is no additional wheel for the belt - just the motor axis and the drum). But the cleaning job is just the same. The machine was generally fairly clean inside. But in the end, there was a thin but impermeable layer of dirt blocking the condenser. Cleaned that and the machine runs as new! Thanks so much for doing the effort to post this, Me. Washy Washy! PS. By the way, the WT47Y700NL (and possibly others) does have a COMPONENT TEST MODE. It can be accessed by (1) switching on (2) setting the rotary knob to "towels" (3) pressing the "dryness level" button AND KEEP HOLDING IT (4) turning the rotary knob to "Blanket", (5 ) Release the “dryness level” button (5) Briefly press the “dryness level” button again. A menu will then appear with all kinds of measured values (sensors) and you can walk through eight options. P1 (motor, fan, P2 (compressor), P3 (rinsing), P4 (cond.sense), P5 (ref.pump), P6 (refresher), P7 (drain set), P8 OU test. Each option is with the At P1, for example, you switch the drum motor on and off manually, and at P8 the device tests all lights and the display.

Thank you for a truly detailed teardown and clean out video. Would agree with the other comments, do not use a cloth on the condenser, vacuum with a narrow tube and soft brush end. Fixed my Series 6. Big thank you! Our 8 year old Series 4 weren’t really drying anything anymore and clothes smelled funky once dry. Figured that heat exchanger needed a clean. Never really trusted that ”self-cleaning” function. There were some lint, nowhere near as much as the one in the video. Which was a bit surprising given the age. I guess we’ve been cleaning the filters properly. However, the HE. Oh boy! It was a thick thick layer covering both the small and the large one. 😂 Ended up removing the front. Not sure I saved any time, but I didn’t like the bending parts. Also, some commented about getting a proper seal again. Took me a total of 5 hrs. But only cause I had to go back and redo some parts. Cheers!

What a bloody fantastic demo. Amazing. It's because of guys like you that we can keep these machines out of landfill. I'm a tech and people give me things that others have not been able to fix. Because of this video their heat pump drier will be as good as new, when after several attempts by the manufacturer (contractor) to repair they were told to buy a new one. Obviously the contractor did not want to go this far to service properly.

However - got really surprised, when I looked through the front grill. It is clean like brand new. Nothing covers the parts inside. Similar can be seen in the cooler compartment. Looks to me that the cleaning will have to wait a while. Could it be because we follow instructions to wash the filters every time after run?

I'm currently cleaning the second machine in my career as an appliance repairman. It's a 2010 EcoLogixx 7 WTW86561IT/03, built on the older platform as the first I did, a 2013 one. Each time I do this job I actually disassemble the whole machine, even lifting up the entire heat pump assembly and pulling it out of the basement, operation that has to be performed slowly and gently. I'm helped by other two people: one holds the compressor, one the condenser (the hot side, in the back) and one the evaporator (the cold side in the front, referred as condenser because it collects the moisture). Then I blow and wash every single non electric bit, especially the basement which is always full of crap and the evaporator. Finally I reassemble the whole machine, replacing belts, rollers or felt seals if needed. But generally most of the time I find them in good shape, in the first machine I cleaned I've only replaced the drum belt and the second I'm actually doing has surprisingly everything OK. If it was an Indesit, it would be all worn out 🤣 There's still some typical German quality in these machines and they do worth the effort to extend their life, especially on the older ones. The only shortcoming IMHO is they don't reverse the drum rotation, otherwise they are very valid machines!

You saved me a fortune not having to buy a new tumble dryer. We bought it new in 2014 and use it… extensively. When we moved house in 2018 bright spark over here decided to plumb it directly to the drain thus eliminating having to empty the condenser drawer. What I didn’t realise was this completely bypassed the condenser cleaning. After 3 years my wife said the tumble dryer is taking forever and our electricity bill was higher than usual. Being around Xmas time she was looking at a new one. At the prospect of dropping a grand on a new machine I decided to take a look. Low and behold the condenser was full of lint, and your tutorial helped me through the solution. Now the tumble dryer is good as new! I would sincerely like to drop a few quid your way to thank you.

Great video, very helpful! I have a Bosch Series 4 (WTH85200AU) and the steps are very similar - up until the cover on the condenser. There is no separate plastic part to unscrew and the clips on two sides are as shown - but after that I couldn't figure out how to take it fully off. Thankfully from what I could see it wasn't very dusty (in contrast to the rest of the insides!) After cleaning out all the lint (worse than shown - this is after 4 years of almost daily use) and putting it back together, it is actually drying properly again! Thanks so much!

Thank you Mr. Washy, absolutely magnificent video. I just went through the procedure. And saw one significant difference in my unit; the seal you are about to reinstall at time 30:45 was missing! Based on your video I decided to put in some silicone sealant instead. Now waiting for it to harden, to see if the drying has improved. Another observation; detaching the humidity sensor (two screws just above your left hand at 20:29) helps acessing the screws you are about to remove at that same time.

Great instruction video! Our dryer started to report full water tank even though it was dry. Have a slightly different model, broke a clip on the cover of tbe heat exchanger block, but works well after cleaning up - probably the lint prevented the water from getting into the pump.

Thank you so much for making this, it was incredibly helpful. Without it I would have called in a professional and be a few hundred euros poorer at this point. My dryer was at least as lint-filled as yours, probably even worse. I just put everything back together this morning, and it's humming smoothly again and drying clothes as it should. As a note: our dryer is about 8 years old, and we always did maintain the good discipline of cleaning out the lint tray at the end of every cycle. So it's not a lack of care that is to blame, but probably poor design. From what I can surmise, the felt seals between the drum and the dryer frame are far from perfect and they allow lint to pass this barrier as the drum spins. This is the only way I can imagine the lint to end up everywhere like this. Bosch needs to improve this seal or add a secondary one.

Great video, I have exactly the same model and its not drying. Took it apart as per your guide, my goodness so much fluff!!! I actually removed the condenser and the delicate heat sink things, only 3 screws holding the condenser in place, gently moved the whole lot over to the sink to clear out all the gunk, and let soak over night, and also give that lower water tray a real good clean, mine was literally full of what I can only describe as silt like you get in the bottom of a stream!! All cleaned now, and about to re-assemble. Awesome video and guide, thanks!

Thanks alot for this video, saved me a bunch of money aswell. One thing i made the mistake of doing was pulling the door glass seal out, mine was full of lint and i should have just washed it but i assumed i could remove, clean and replace. But unfortunately the seal is not able to be put back in! The door needs to be disassembled and it is designed not to be. You cant buy just a seal only a whole door. do not remove the door seal people!

Thanks for this video! My machine is almost the same, and the problem was that the machine asked to empty the water tray, even though it was already empty. By following your excellent guide, understanding screw sizes and everything, I was able to take the machine apart, figure out the water pump part by myself, clean everything, and put it back together in just three hours. Now it works perfectly again.

Did you have to replace the pump or just clean everything out?
@timusius
@timusius Жыл бұрын
@@MrJ8m Just below the pump there are two sensor "sticks" going down into the water in the bottom of the machine. They were coated in old textile fibers so they made a constant connection with the water. So the machine thought that it could not empty the water out. (It works in a somewhat backwards way. When the lower container is full it tries to empty it using the pump. If the pump runs for long, the machine concludes that the upper removable container is full.) It was enough for me to clean the machine. ( I manually flushed a bunch of water through the lower part, and emptied the pump chamber many times until the water started to stay clear.) I might even have been able to clean those sticks without taking it fully apart, since there is sort of an opening just above them, but I did not know that at the time.

Thanks a lot for this video, now my dryer runs like it’s new. I also removed the complete heat pump assembly, just 3 screws on the base of the pump, you just need some help to carefully lift it out, then I used air pressure to clean the condenser and heater. I can really recommend others to do this as it also makes it possible to clean the disgusting water tray underneath the condenser.

This is an upcoming task for me. Our dryer is now 9 years, so it's about time! I think I will add a step: dismount the refrigeration cycle (compressor, condensor, evaporator etc). This way, I think I can clean the coils alot better with air and water + a detergent. I might also be able to clean the underlying plastics. Not sure the plastics will matter, but cleaning the coils more extensively is not a huge added task compared to the overall project. Great video!

Under where the condensor sits there is another removable tray and underneath that wad all clogged up as well.

Was considering a heat pump dryer. Now not so sure I want one. Great instructional video for anyone who already has this but also a good warning to people like my considering this to replace a vented dryer, believign them to be safer as well as cheaper. At least the vented dryer expels most of the lint. (BTW: Maybe consider buying a new microphone. It's a bit weak.) Thanks 😀

This is a fantastic video, thankyou!! But it is worth noting that the later revisions of this model don't have an issue with the self-cleaning condenser clogging like you see in this video - because they added a secondary (very fine) lint filter to prevent the condenser and evaporator clogging. I did the full teardown of my dryer per this video (which was not drying properly) to find the condenser and evaporator perfectly clean. The problem in later revisions of this dryer is actually the fine lint filter they introduced to fix the earlier issue. It can visually appear perfectly clean and free of lint, but try blowing through it or running water through the filter. It's probably partially or completely blocked. Scrub it, vaccum it, and keep doing that until you can blow air unobstructed through all four of the lint filter panels. Replace the filter and your wet clothes and stupidly long drying times will be fixed.

Dunno if mine counts as a newer version, I think it's 2015 or something. However where is this fine lint filter so I don't miss it? Doing the teardown now so it might be obvious, but I can't see a filter from the front access to the condenser under the door if that's where it's supposed to be.
