My pool pump sprung a leak in the pump housing but the price of a new housing is too high so I sanded best I could inside and filled it with liquid flex seal. Still leaks but more seeps than leaks. Maybe come fall I should dig the old soldering iron out and give this a try before closing the pool.

Instead of melting a ziptie for that extra plastic, try using the heatgun on a stick of hot glue. Melt it in the air over the area and let it flow over the patch. It flows into any crevices you might have made with the solder iron, adding strength and additional sealing to the patch. Once dry it also leaves a smooth finish. Good videos dude.

@@MervsServiceSecrets Oh yes. It's water and weather proof and a nightmare to get off from surfaces that are not perfectly flat (like glass or metal). Patched plastic is a perfect application. I'm sure there is a limit to how much pressure it can withstand, but I haven't found it yet.

You can also cut a chunk off of the same plastic part at a different location (if there's a section that can structurally or aesthetically afford to get thinned out), that way you're melting the same type of plastic into the "wound," thereby yielding a stronger, more uniform bond. I'm a mechanic and have used this method quite a few times.

Gas cans and gas tanks are made from HDPE plastic, The same as oil bottles. If one can find colored oil bottles like the gas or diesel can color, one only needs to empty the preused oil bottle and clean it out. Cut the bottle into strips, and, viola, you have welding rods.

Improper molding parameters likely caused the leak. Air and gas volatiles form inside molten plastics These gases weren't vented out ahead of the melt flow causing a weakened knit line. The flashed plastic next to the leak is an indicator of trapped gases.

I want to know what you do when the threaded sleaves pull out that hold the motor to the pump housing on the wisper flo? The super flo housing are shit but if you can't get from inside on pressureized system will never hold next time if you have ball valves just remove plugs from pump to let water out get good and dry close multiport a valve on discharge side of pump would be best case .take apart a union ball valve hook up shop vac or cyclone to ball valve create vacuum close valve while vacuum is still running you will be able to draw in your super glue or marine jb weld from the outside in at trouble area with out having to break down pump and fool with all that shit I've had it last for a while but the housing on those if left in direct sun and chemical wear it's gone keep on getting more pin holes it's envitable super Flo the big brother of that pump has the same issue over time last a lil bit longer easier to prime too

It's been going strong for several months, but it needs to be done meticulously because certain cracks are hard to get to. Regarding the ability to do another repair over this one, I really don't know. I simply did this because I felt I had nothing to lose and the cost was cheap. If it fails someday, I would bite the bullet and buy a new one. But so far, so good.
