Just fixed mine today. 77,000 miles on my 2005 TJ Sport. Used the butter lid piece and shrink tubing but when I reassembled it and installed it, if I would moved the blinker lever, it turned the fog lights on. Too much thickness. Pulled it apart again, removed the butter lid piece and tubing then shrunk another piece of tubing only around the lever, reassembled and walla, it works like a champ. Just love driving that Jeep. Great fix. Thanks for the video.

This was perfect. Just got a 2005 LJ and put fog lights back on it wired to the factory wiring. Once I put the fuse back in I was having exactly the problem described in the video. I was easily able to follow the instructions outlined here and fixed everything better than new. Thank you so much for such a good video 😎

It works! It really was easy after the fact. Word of advice, the switch locations matter. For the newbies like me, the switches (white pieces) have specific spots/slots that allow the turn signal to move, the headlights to turn up and down, etc. Before you put the assembly back in, make sure everything turns as it should, check the blinkers and headlights, took me three tries to get the switches arranged so they could move as they should. When I put them back in, I basically blocked the movement bc I didn’t realize there is path the switches have to follow.

THANK YOU! I had previously done the repair filling in the divot with JB Weld as shown by others since I did not have a heat gun or heat shrink tubing. It worked for about a year or so but the issue came back. With this repair, you can do it all in day rather than wait for JB to cure. Working fine.

Will be fixing this tomorrow morning, got too late to take care of it tonight. Temp solution: With the Jeep parked for the night. - To turn off the fog lights until you can fix it, just put the arm up or down in the blinking position, it will turn the fogs off and won't wear down your battery. Thanks for posting this.

Hmm this looks great. I have repaired mine a few times, but rather than building up the indent as you did, I was building up the plastic knob part that pushes up (breaks the circuit by lifting it up when the switch is off) using JB Weld. Unfortunately with the method I used, I was repairing it at least once a year and sometimes it took me a few tries to get the size just perfect (either the lights would stay on, or they would not come on at all, rinse and repeat until I got it right, then it fails again in a year) ... Anyway... thank you. This gives me one more thing to try before I give up and wire it to a separate switch.

What a great video. Can’t thank you enough for doing this. I had basically given up on my fog lights. Several years ago I bought a new multifunction switch thinking that would cure the fog lights “magically” turning on. After a week or two same issue. I was so annoyed I just disconnected the fog lights. Found your video this AM so decided to give it a try. Perfect! Fog lights are back! This issue must be a design flaw in that switch. That part on my new multifunction switch looked just like yours so doubt that it’s a wear issue. Anyway thank for your help. Much appreciated.

Superb! If Jeep used people like yourself to engineer its products we'd have a much simpler and better world, but their goal is maximizing the bottom line. Hopefully, you're making more money than they would pay you anyway. The shrink tubing is a brilliant application. Now on to the CEL light LOL!

@@HNXMedia I finally solved the CEL problem without cost by determination, imagination and using similar approaches to yours. Got a two year pass. I'd like to convert to manual locking hubs, eliminating all the useless work all that mass does when not 4 wheeling, but the parts alone are nearly two grand now. It's difficult to believe a means for using the existing outer axles can't be employed.

Worked like a charm! Had an issue when I put it back together the first time where headlights were staying on even when switch is off. This was due to the ball portion of the light control arm not being aligned/inserted into the groove in the long skinny piece on the right hand side. I can confirm that this works... sort of. It fixed my fog light problem, but it prevented my headlights from turning on. the heatshrink was pushing up a bit on the vertical sliding switch for the low beam/ marker lights, so I had to file a bit of plastic off of it. Everything works fine now :)
