To all you just not getting it in the first place: I had the same problem! BUT, before complaining, watch closely. Kapil presented it absolutely correct. You have to enter TWO product keys in TWO steps. 1stly the one provided here at 1:15 for the Windows 10 you want to activate. After being told it could not be activated, repeat the procedure with the legal product key from your initial Windows 7 or 8.1 installation, that you owned. This worked fine for me ...

Worked like a charm - I used my windows 7 key to activate 10. Thank you!! I have an OEM copy of windows 7 home, that was upgraded to 10 via for free from MS. I then installed an SSD and did a reinstall with a windows 10 disk. Once installed the activation message said I did not have "Digital entitlement. " I had no error code like described in title. I followed the steps, used his listed default MS key, it failed like the video, then I changed key again, typed in the OEM windows 7 key on the COA and it activated.

I activated my license for windows 7 and instaleld windows 7, then updated to windows 10 and after a while it says now that i need a activation code,the one u showed didnt work :(

Thanks! Problem solved. :) And for those who aren't following - enter one of the "default" codes he lists in the video which WILL be rejected. Then enter your actual, genuine product key...as in the product key from the OS you purchased.

this thing wont work now as microsoft blocked the default keys. So buy and no other option

It works, but you still need to buy one or get real key from a family member or friend, I don't think it would be a permanent fix.. In my case My computer got a bad virus and when I did a restore my computer just died all data was lost, and I did not have any proof I owned it so microsoft would not restore or give me a new windows 10 pro, so I found it online and could not get it to activate with out this, I hated to do it this way, yet I bought the computer brand new and never received the actual product key since 8.1 (maybe even 8.0) the product key is not written on the label on the computer anymore and I did not see it anywhere, Mine was fully activated when I received it, I merely had to set it up for me, then I became part of Microsoft's Insider Program and got Windows 10 as gradual builds until the final full version then received the option to do a clean install of the Windows 10 Pro. , I had no problems until my computer got that virus, yet when I tried to contact microsoft, All I got was "I had to BUY it if I wanted it!!!"

i get an error code when trying to change the product key :/ seems like it's not a legit key or something...

I get windows can't activate with that product key (error code 0x803f7001)

if you used a keygenerator for extracting your key on winddows 10 dont be fooled its all one generic code like the one this guy is typing! make sure you find your correct code first before formating if you have done upgrade.
