Windows cannot access specified device path or file you may not have appropriate permissions is a frequent error message on Windows 10 PC. It is displayed when you try to access some file or folder which you don't have enough permission to access.
This error message, " Windows Cannot Access Specified Device Path or File You May Not Have Appropriate Permissions" can be fixed by giving the user required permission to access the folder. After we give the required permission, windows will be able to access the specified path or file, which previously you didn't have appropriate permission to access.
You will be able to fix the problem of Windows Cannot Access Specified Device Path or File You May Not Have Appropriate Permissions after you follow the steps on this video.

What's it mean when you get this error but then after waiting a few seconds and then trying to open the program again, it works? Sometimes I get that when trying to open Steam like right after closing another non-Steam game. If I just wait like five seconds, then it seems all good. Also an admin account on my own PC from what I'm aware of

The problem is the Windows Defender. Check that the program you are trying to launch isn't blocked or quarantined. Hope this helps!

Hey i have seen tons of videos but no help.... My error goes away only if i disable my antivirus.... I have fresh installed win 10 on new ssd and file i want to access is in hdd.. I used Avast cleanup premium and after the cleanup i cudnt use my files.. This method would work on individual files. Any tips on how to do it on a larger scale for many files at the same time?

Didn't work for me. Full control, Modify, Read and execute, Read Write etc where already ticked under User, SYSTEM, Adminstrators etc. The file (ProduKey.exe) was ok with Windows 7 but not with Windows 10. I got it to work with Windows 10 by: Click on Notifications at the right of the taskbar and click on All Settings. Click on Update & Security. Click on Windows Security. Click on App & browser control. Click on Reputation-based protection settings. (Blue text link) Under 'Potentially unwanted app blocking' untick 'Block apps' and turn off the On/Off icon above. Hope this helps others.

If it doesn't work, Specifically in Windows 10 go to *windows security-> app and browser control* and there you will find the blocked ones, *allow* from there....

Usually Windows defender blocks the app. So try to click on allow

Head over to windows defender or antivirus software u r using, and check if it is been blocked, try allowing or add to exception list, hope this works Beware: this error usually occurs when you download a software that has potential to harm your system that's why ur windows os alerts you! Proceed with caution ppl

Just like Eddy111 said, Its not what the guy in the video said Its the windows defender. The file youre attempting to access may be quarantined or blocked especially if before you tried to open it said "Windows protected your device"

Windows Security > Antivirus and threat protection, then right click on the program and click on the last option. Hope this helps! :D

Thank you so much. I already had all the permissions but still wasn't able to access the file. So, what I did was deny all permission, and uncheck them after applying the denial (i did that for all users just in case).
