Fix your Land Rover Discovery 3 TDV6 EGR problems with an EGR delete & ECU software

Are you having issues with your EGR? Let's solve them!
What is an EGR though? EGR stands for "exhaust gas recirculation". The EGR system does just that, it recirculates exhaust gasses from the exhaust, into the inlet manifold of the Discovery TDV6 which then goes into the combustion chamber. This is to help reduce vehicle emissions.
Over time the EGR valve and intake can become blocked by the gasses which have recirculated as they cool down. The problem can then become apparent in many ways, the two most common being either low boost and poor performance or an EGR position fault.
As the EGR valve struggles to close a position fault can occur but on occasions, this fault does not show up and instead a low boost error can show and even be felt as the boost pressure is now escaping through the now always open EGR valve and straight into the exhaust, completely missing the combustion chamber; reducing performance.
Two solve this there are two solutions, one is to replace the faulty part with a new item which is costly and the same problem can occur with time. The second solution is to clean the EGR valve and block the EGR pipework with some metal plates which stop the exhaust gasses from being recirculated into the inlet manifold.
If you chose the second solution upgraded ECU software needs to be installed to prevent a check engine light, this can be opted for with either stock power or with Stage 1 power. This car had the EGR Delete software with Stage 1 power installed, lifting output to 212HP & 360lbfts.

you no the 2.7 tdv6 is locked at a certain power setting to save the transmission?

can the same process be done to disco 4 sdv6. I am from Australia so we don't have the MOT. Is it easy to map out the sensors on the lr4?

What power can you have these remapped upto? Surely could get over 250bhp?

Maybe on another dyno, when new these were making around 240 once tuned on our dyno. Don't forget, these cars are often high mileage now and still on the original turbos, injectors etc so striving for the MAXIMUM output would not be wise, unless you'd like to change out some additional parts after the remap.

Does this cause smoking from the exhaust ?. And will it pass emissions on an mot?

Less exhaust gasses will be recirculated into the engine, so it can have that impact. MOT compliance wise generally anything that changes the emissions can impact it.

Hello ! Does the egr delete work on models made after 2007 ? Does the ECU programming will also delete the fault on those years models (mine is from 2009) thanks a lot !!
