Currently using the 125 black hornet non-serrated. Shot very close to my field tips. Not saying I did it, but if you were to bury a broadhead at 45 yards into the woodshed framing and broke the ferule trying to get it out, they will cover that under their lifetime warranty. Couldn't get it out, it was buried too deep. Again, not saying I did that.

You should test the Muzzy 100gr Traditional 4-Blade. I’ve been shooting Muzzy 4-Blades since the 1980’s and they’ve never failed. Last fall I shot my elk with my 409gr arrow at 110 yds and got a total pass through. And they hit point of aim to 130 yds. right along side my field points… I don’t think you’ll be disappointed…

Ballsy taking a 110yd shot on an animal. I wouldn't take a shot at anything past 65yds to many factors come into play that far. To each their own I suppose.

I've been researching fixed blades for a while. Can't afford buying a boxful of different ones to try, so I've decided to go with QAD Exodus. They usually finish pretty decent in most tests I've seen. They're a LOT of quality fixed blades to choose from these days, to the point we're splitting hairs between the top brands on performance it seems. A lot more complexities involved in mechanicals, which is one reason I avoid them altogether; my fixed blades are already "deployed" before they leave the arrow rest. Some people swear by mechanicals, others swear AT them. To each his own. My 80 year old father arrowed a small buck last week with a Thunderhead 125 that's probably killed a dozen deer or more over the years. He's tight as bark on a tree, he'll just sharpen the blades and put it back in the quiver. I doubt there's many mechanicals that have gotten into double-digits on deer with just routine sharpening, but I could be wrong, I'm not an authority on broadheads, but I have been using them for over 40 years now.

After you've shot a target, the Montec can be re-sharpened on a flat fine diamond stone ,that's what I like about them

The only thing in my experience that can ruin a Montec is a rock. I got a pass through into a root ball and even that didn't destroy the broadhead. A passthrough into a dry creek bed did curl the tip a little but I was able to sharpen it out and reuse it.

Great video as usual. Main point here from Chris is tune your bow and use helical fletch. When you do they all “fly like field points” I’d use any of these but fond of something I can sharpen. Thanks Chris. Can’t wait see your hunts this year.

Magnus has been my go-to this year broadheads. Best thing I like about them besides they fly awesome, is the warranty they offer. Any damage you email them a picture and they send you a new broadhead in the mail. Honestly don't know any other company that does that.

Been shooting Exodus for years and while they can be picky when it comes to tuning, they've always stood out in almost every other important department. I've tested about 20 different broadheads over the years (roughly 10 fixed and 10 expandable) and kinda lost trust on expandables for whitetails

I’ve really enjoyed my iron wills and QAD Exodus. I used the standard blade exodus last year and blew through a big white tail. This year I’m using the Exodus swept blade. They fly even better than the standards which fly incredible. I could have probably just used the standards again this year. They’re still in great shape and sharp. For 40 bucks a pack, why not try others? I highly recommend them if you can’t or prefer not to spend big money on iron wills. Cool test @Chris Bee

When I switched from mechanical to fixed I found the hornet ser razor to be my favorite. Flew really good, blade thickness/structural integrity was nice. First year I ran it through a super mature buck hard quartering away. Put it last rib and it came out right behind the shoulder. Was a little worried I only got one lung with that hard angle but he only ran about 60 yds. I recently switched to the tuffhead Evo 3 blade because I didn't like the loud buzzing noise in flight of all the vented heads. Plus it is easy to sharpen like you showed with the montec. I have a set of 4 small diamond stones in diff grits that I keep in my hunting crate. If I ever need to ReSharpen it is super easy

For bh performance reviews I highly recommend John Lusks videos. His process is very consistent and detailed, and every test serves a purpose. Although your tests are fun and entertaining, which I suppose is the real intent, I think it your bh comparison didnt yield any substantial results. But then again, your BH choice doesn't matter much if you put the arrow where it needs to go.

I hit the far rib on a quartering away shot on a whitetail deer with Montec. The arrow did not pass through, and the tip was curled over 1/8”. Dead deer, no problem but wondered what the result would be if I had hit the near side rib on the entrance side? I switched to QAD since the hardened tip looks like it would split a rib and not curl over. I also honed all the Montec’s right out of the package to bring them to razor sharpness just to be safe. The QAD blades right out of the package were razor sharp. Great video Chris, thanks for the comparison!

I've used 3 of those over the years. Montec, Slicktrick, and the Magnus Black Hornets. Hands down, my favorite between them is the Magnus. They fly great, cut big, are made of a carbon steel instead of stainless (means it can take a better edge and hold it better) have the second best blood trail of any broadhead I've used and I've never had a whitetail go more than 50 yards out of the 9 that I've taken with it. By the way, I've used the same blade to take all 9 of those deer. 2 ferrules, but the same blade, just reshaped. The Slicktricks were great, but I broke a blade. Personally, that is unacceptable. The positive of the slicktricks is that they have consistently left the best, most consistent blood trails I've ever gotten. Big 2 blade expandables included. My experience with the Montecs is that the indeed flew the best, and was the easiest broadheads to tune. However, the are the dullest broadhead I've ever bought and lose their edge very quickly. The dull broadhead left much to be desired when it comes to a blood trail

@@NEFARIOUS_B.I.G. Good to know! To be honest, I shot the Montecs back when they first came out. I haven't looked into anything G5 since my experience with the Montecs. If I ever look to going back to a 3 blade design, I'll definitely look into the carbon steel version.

Montecs, along with other solid 3 blade broadheads, have a 30 x 30 degree bevel which is not as sharp as a replaceable blade. G5 Striker V2s and Slick Tricks have German Lutz blades made in Solingen Germany. These blades are scalpel sharp and blood trails are incredible.

The G5 Stryker is the sharpest broad that I have used. The G5 Montec is probably most accurate I have used. I have found any fixed blade broadhead will fly if you have 100grs of brass up front🤣 You should try the grim reaper 1 3/8 razor tip with blades in the open position. That’s what I’d use. Blades won’t dull in the quiver, they fly great for me in the open position.

It was a pain, but I never took anything out of the package I didn't have to mess with. Just my curios nature I guess. If you don't want to spend the time to make sure the part that does the killing is as good as it can be, then maybe you should consider spending your time doing something other than hunting.

Now you sound like my Dad. He told me you wanted the arrow to stay in the deer to get that "extra" cutting as the deer ran off. Biggest distance from the truth. That deer needs two holes to really take the life out of them fast when the arrow hits the cavity. One hole entry ,arrow will plug holes, vessels, arteries, and the deer may die, may go a long ways, may live a lot longer. It doesnt take much blade, just get the pass through.

Shot a doe at 7 yards Saturday and I’m dumb so I hit high (forgot to compensate for the angle) and blasted through the scapula. The arrow angled down into the heart. It was a mechanical btw 475 grains at 260ish fps

Just shot a pig with an oz cut hurricane 3 blade single bevel that’s 1 1/8” he only went 25 yards, I honestly think with fixed blades shot placement is paramount to cutting diameter, and as long as its sharp it will work. Great blood trails are easy with any sized broad head if you shoot the heart.

Should try the Magnus Stinger 2 blade without the bleeders. They’re not serrated like the ones you tried form them. I’ve only used them 3 years, and had 3 pass throughs on whitetail from 18 yards to 33 yards.

Just had a stinger w/ bleeders pass through a hog at 28 yards. Broke a rib on both sides and went 8” into the mud. Still spins perfect and zero blade chatter. It’s already resharpened and back in my quiver. Great broadheads.

The montec G5 did not do well in the sharpness test because it's a 65 or a 45 degree angle i forgot but ive done this test to. like a 17 degree angle blade like a grim reaper will do better, Chris also said in the video that "the thinness of the blades helps in this" you are right

Initial sharpness is cool to examine but shouldn’t be weighed that heavily. You’re should shoot them to make sure they fly with your setup which will dull them. What matters is how hard it is to sharpen and how well they hold an edge. These videos are always interesting though
