Less important update: I did the MTSD on the Wii version of _Tetris Party Deluxe_ and ... it does the same thing as Tetris Ultimate: it counts as a mini T-spin (you can get a B2B with it) but it doesn't have text available. I imagine the DS version is different because it displays "Mini T-spin" and "Double" in two different colors, while the Wii version uses the same color. (However, unlike Tetris Ultimate, it doesn't say "Double" when you get a regular double, so "B2B Double" is less funny.)

It was mostly useful in Tetris Friends, where where TSDM didn't exist and were systematically treated as full TSD. Nowadays, the second TSD in this move would count as a mini. I just got tetris worlds and a gba emulator on my phone. imo it's like at least 3 times better than EA's version of tetris for mobile.

It's one of the oldest games out there, and while there is still a bit of complexity in its mechanics _it's usually not nearly enough_ that you get bugs like this, where the entire game inexplicably locks up

@@squiddler7731 they probably have some code that properly detects mini t-spins. For example, it could be imported from other official Tetris game, or just written during a previous development stage. However, the developers forgot to implement some part of its processing or overlooked a bug in it. There can possibly be no value for the rewarded score, infinite loop in the corresponding method or just a missing/misnamed sprite.

My theory is that the detection works properly but then the game calls for some assets (like the graphic it shows, similar to what you would get on a regular T-spin for example), but these assets don't exist because the devs didn't bloody know MTSDs are a thing.

EA had the license for mobile Tetris games for close to 15 years. They had an iPod version released as early as 2006. But now N3twork has the license and made this game, as well as a region-locked live battle royale game. And both softlock when you do a TSDM.

Yes it is, and I love it too!

Yeah, for the setup that counts as a full TSD, that's because the game is following an earlier version of the guidelines where the final kick exception applies to the whole sequence of rotations before you lock your piece down. For the other setup with the weird behaviour of T-spin sound with no text though, it's the game mishandling a T-spin double mini and not really knowing what to count it as. It is recognised as a mini double though, you can verify that by doing the same setup but clearing only one line, and it should say T Spin Single Mini and handle it properly.
