I love vintage conversions

This is a huge help/inspiration for my rebuild I'm doing on an old mid-70's Raleigh Grand Prix I picked up the other day. Was worried about what to do for the real wheel setup because of the different spacing, but you answered my questions. Yours looks sick and I'm hoping I can get mine up and running and looking just as good.

That looks like a 1990 model year Tourmalet. These came with Shimano Exage / 400EX which was a Tiagra/Sora groupset in modern day terms. Love watching these conversions especially if they save it from the bin! Also easily made a singlespeed with the addition of some Tektro RL720/721 levers and the same calipers if a buyer doesn't want fixed.

The deep 700c wheels with the slicks looks great! Maybe I should start looking at my Peugeot with modifications in my eyes.

Not Tore-mallet, Tore-mah-lay! Col du Tourmalet is one of the epic climbs featured nearly every year of the Tour de France when they pass through the Pyrenees. Nice conversion, love the outrun style of these 80’s Peugeots.

I remade a Peugeot Etoile into a single speed/fixie. I absolutely love it but it's a hassle to get some parts for it. The front brake needed a longer screw than a standard shimano claris, the seat pipe is really thin, luckily I found one in a local store... sheesh. Beautiful bike tho :)

6:34 the chain won’t slack. The distance from the cog to the chainring does not change with the chainring‘s oval form. The chain either is pulled more frontwards or both up-and downwards at the same time, but since your chainring is a 360 degree circle, it can never make your chain slack on a single point. What makes the chain slack is when the chainring isn’t mounted perfectly centered to the bottom bracket axis, which is the case with most older square tapered bb systems. Cheers from Berlin!

A little advice for all, when you use the drill add some lube to don't screw up the tool, some wd40 will do the work. Once it gets red hot is useless and become soft. Nice build, love the content
