*English grammar in use* by Raymond Murphy is a very famous book and often considered as a prestigeous source when it comes to english grammar. In unit 34, on page 68 he writes "we do not use 'to' with suggest, you can say What do you suggest I should do?" How do you reconcile it with what you have said in the lecture. Please check it and provide us with a revised an authentic answer. Thank you.

I read somewhere that we should use to preposition after suggest when the object is a person. But the object is non living thing then we don't need to use any preposition after suggest.
