Just came over from the painted south, and I have to say, you mist be a saint for being able to live in a construction zone. It looks beautiful though. I think the hidden door should be a bookcase. That would be classic.

Wow , amazing. The painted south sent me over. Born and living in the Netherlands it's not possible to build such a beautiful big house, but i am satisfied with my 3 stories house. The length of your kitchen is the length of my kitchen, dining room and livingroom. But i am also happy with it. For the Netherlands i am not living small. I am glad that i can follow your journey with your renovation. I wish you succes

I'm Estelle, Walt's wife. I found you from watching the "Painted South". I live in a 1930's farmhouse on 80 acres and my house has been added on 2 times. We added the last 650 sq. ft. in 2011. Quite the project

Your home is beautiful! I’m so glad Deborah introduced you to us!! I have an idea for the door to look completely hidden or a secret doorway. Find a wardrobe piece the same depth or close to the existing cabinet but cut the door on it to open fully to the ground. That way it looks like just another cabinet piece but you can open it and pass through. A lady on Instagram “halvewaytoheavenhomestead” did something similar in her old house. She had a pass through hallway between her room and a playroom for her kids so she covered the doorway with an antique wardrobe and reconstructed it to look the same but the front completely opened so they could walk through.

I also came over from the Painted South. About to start binge watching! 😂 How about a cabinet door for the hideaway feature since that wall is already going to be used for storage? A bookcase may clash. Good luck!

I think next to your cabinet where you got that cabinet from Deborah, I think you should make the door match the cabinet from Deborah if that made any sense LOL. look at all of that room! wowzer! and if I may, my husband and I are a huge fan of Jackyl! We live about 1 1/2 hours from kansas city and I know Johnny Dare, a dj on 98.9 is good friends with the band so we hear alot from him! would love to go to one of their concerts, just haven't yet! so, about your dilemma, what do you think of doing it like they do the built in fridges? that look like part of the woodwork. I think double doors would look great, altho they would be narrow since that is a single, but I think you could pull that off! it would just kind of blend in! It would be invisible! if that is the vibe that you are going for, which was my take! thanks for sharing! absolutely loved your pantry! xoxo

Absolutely fantastic. Friends of mine used a huge hunk of beetle killed pine for their mantle and it looks great. Cute dog! Am looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with the hidden door.
