Fixing a stripped out gear on a G-Scale LGB Union Pacific Mikado. The locomotive has AirWire control with Phoenix Sound.

I'm honestly curious how much greater the performance would be if all drivers had traction tires compared to one set of drivers.

I always thought of that too, but at a certain point the locomotive weight wouldn’t be heavy enough and it would probably start hopping or slipping on the rails anyway

Do you have a photo of the contacts on the bottom of the loco? I was repairing a smaller mikado and can get two of three contact wires to run on a 9v but one of the contacts metal bar does not line up with the power that runs the wheels and therefore brushes to wheels. super confusing.

I'm going to be doing much the same but using railpro for my Bachmann 4-6-0 engine converting it from Track power to batteyr power using a battery cube and a rail pro board. while converting my New Bright christmas box cars from plastic trucks and wheels to all die cast metal wheels (I did do a test fit of the metal die cast wheels using my Gondola as a doner and they fit and give the box cars some weight to them).

yo crazytrain525 im planning on making my own G scale garden railway i just need a few tips 1. What Mode Should I Use DC or DCC? @. wheres the best place to get these? thanks sorry if i annoyed you or anything :)

I would go DC because it’s cheaper, and I get most of my trains used on eBay, but OnlyTrains.com has a good selection of g scale items.

You can find some of the smaller LGB engines cheaper on eBay for around $100

Plastic and locktite do not mix. Locktite can make plastic brittle and crack over time. I do NOT recommend locktiting those hex nuts to the wheels. Use a dab of CA or something else if you had to, but locktite should only be used on metal to metal connections.
