Nice job, I like the blue stone, we have some here in southern maine. We also do both, tailgate out a load or spread with a machine, and it depends what's around us, wires, trees, etc.. and you'd right, if it's your equipment, then do what you want, that driveway, I'd done what you did,, dump and spread it

It’s a skill and has to be taught or handled down. If the drivers don’t have the skill or no one was there to show them they won’t be able to do it. It’s tough to teach yourself so many new drivers can’t or don’t know how. It’s almost becoming a lost art in many places.

Your comment at 19:45 is the reason you forward spread your stone from the pile. Then your tracks are always on stone. Can't believe you didn't roll a base layer. Even if the customer doesn't want it, it's your responsibility to educate them on the whole process and why you need to do certain things. If you can't convince customers what needs to be done properly then walk away and let someone else be a hack.
@DirtBrute
@DirtBrute 11 ай бұрын
Forward spread? Oh, so you’re the guy that just pushes the pile over knocking them into the woods making a fucking mess. Besides, you’re always going to have some dirt that falls off your tracks. The driveway already has a pretty hard base layer of clay, rock and stone. Why would you rip off the customer by selling them something they don’t need ? That was one of the hardest based driveways I’ve worked on plus the dense grade material we use packs like concrete. It’s been almost 2 years now and the driveway still like the day we left it so save your speech for something you actually know about.

i believe the best way is to dig out enough dirt to place used tires down, but also cut the sidewalls on each side of the tire out then dump the gravel down, the tirers will keep all the gravel in place, use cement blocks as borders all around. you will never ever get any pot holes and will last forever or until you dig up the gravel and tires.. it is so strong as well that you could driver an 18 wheeler over it with no problesm...just my 2 cents.. your job looks great thought...you will never get any rain water build up because the water will seep through with no problem as well..

All that vegetation within 15 feet of the driving would have been dugged out for various icy n debris falls and failures from heavy snow and ice. The stupid gene of it looks cute don't run in my veins. What's safe and easily maintained does. Gravel don't fall in that catagory.
