My grandpa bought a troybilt 4 stroke tb304bc trimmer/brush cutter for around the house, unsurprisingly it was way too much machine for his wife lol so he just gave it to me for my landscaping business. The bigger engine hits way harder with the same trimmer line and is much harder to bog down in wet, thick weeds and grass, plus itll mount a blade that i use to cut through trees up to about 3 or 4 inches with, along with raspberry bushes and all kind of other crap. The downside is that the trimmer head stripped itself from its mounting nut when i tried to take it off to use the blade, i think because i didn't take it off at all until the beginning of its second season. I cut it off to use the blade, i have 2 other trimmers lol

Hey bro, what's up? This 4 cycle trimmer was on the simpler side of repairing but it was still informative. Personally I wouldn't use a big heavy trimmer for no extensive time at all. I rather use a lighter machine and take twice as long to finish the work than a heavy machine that would cause back problems for me later on in life bro.

Before you put in a new diaphragm after the thing sat unused and dried out for years, let it sit overnight so the gas can soften up the old one.

I recently just got a wild badger 4 stroke trimmer and been using it for 3 days so far, I will say this tho. They are heavy on the long run but damn do they have a lot of torque. You are right about 4 strokes not being able to run upside down but this wild badger Can run upside down and it doesn’t burn oil which is great, maybe it’s because they’re built different and not cheaply made. Price is 190$ for it and I’m liking it so far.

I have a 4 cycle which I think a Honda engine. The engine is way smaller and lighter than that one. It’s similar to cheap 2 cycles I’ve used in size and weight. I really like it because it’s so quiet. I’ve had it for 10 seasons now… but I actually do maintenance on it. Knowing more about engines now it would be a tough choice to replace. I don’t think they ever made many 4 cycle trimmers that nice. I might just have to go 2 cycle because decent ones are common.

I MIGHT use one some just because of the uniqueness of it but since they ALL went down the road, it'd be a passing fancy deal. As far as really buying one...............no. Having known how 2-cycles operate and the work they'll do and the positions you can get them in and not hurt anything is the clincher BUT I do like the way they putter along. Thanks pal and I always go on the assumption that NO info is the RIGHT info. The last good info I got was from the guy that gave me the Roof mower that said it sat for at least 12 years. With the bottom of the float bowl GONE with rust and full of spider webs, he was right. Old 8 horse I/C is fine now. FINALLY got a drive belt for the electric start. Very few cross-references from Troy-bilt numbers. NONE on Briggs. Always something. Thanks and Happy Weekend!

That trimmer the oil was like sludge so its got a couple of kersone flushes to get all the crap out of it and filled with amsoil small engine oil. (Rated for 200 hours in a lawn mower etc) so that oil could outlast that trimmer. (I would change it yearly) It also feels like a sin to not put mix fuel in a trimmer.
