Fixing an old cd player where the tray wont open

I got this old cd player from a friend because he said it didnt work. The tray wont open, usually these mechanical errors are easy to fix, so I open it up to see what can be done.

Hi. What’s the risk of receiving a shock from a charged capacitor even after removing the plug?

It is high if the caps are large. Make sure to have the power button "on" when the cable is unplugged, that way the caps should be drained in the circuit. To be even more safe you can "short" the caps by connecting both leds of the cap with a metal object (that you are insulated from), warning that sparks may fly when doing this though...

@@thomash2806 no. It will go through the short you make eg your screwdriver. But again make sure to leave it on when you pull the plug to drain most of them.

But when fiddling with the belt the player should have been unplugged. It’s very easy to touch an electric component with a screw driver
