Excellent tutorial! Thank you! My only additional note is to feel free to go to extremes if you have really bad audio. My cheap microphone couldn't handle even a slightly loud person, and it wasn't that the levels were recorded too high - in fact, just the opposite, the levels were actually quite a bit too low, but the cheap mic I was stuck with using in a foreign country was overmodulating anyone who was slightly enthusiastic about our interviews. So, I did everything as you instructed and set the tolerance to 15% and it worked like a champ! 12% did nothing and I was losing hope, so I tried 20 and saw decent success. Then I honed in on 15% as the best setting. Thanks again!

when i press repair all it repairs the whole audio file even though i only want to repair the tiny amount, i just want it to work for the section i selected

The noise gate doesn't serve any purpose in this recording, because there is no noise, and if there was, it would only draw attention to it. FFT filter is nothing but a 'digital' equalizer. It brings down frequencies in the signal, as well as the noise. Given the choice, I'd prefer the clipped version without the treble cut. A declipper normally expects sharp clips, which the filter would soften. Maybe iZotope's RX declipper plugin would work better. I'm unfamiliar with Audition, but looks like your signal is still going over full scale after declipping and the gain needs to be reduced with or without a limiter.

the title of the video says "Distorted & Clipped" yet you only provided a solution for clipped audio. Audio can sound distorted without being clipped and your video doesnt show any fix for that.

Great Tip. I didn't even know you could do this. I just recorded a concert on a canon EOS R and Atomos Ninja V. I knew the audio would be clipped from the camera but I figured since I was recording to the Ninja external recorder set to 32 bit float, I could just turn down the volume in post and fix the clipping. Well I don't know what bit rate the Camera has but the 32-bit recording from the Ninja just recorded the already clipped signal. I'm going to try the method you suggested but do you know a better way since I technically do have a 32 bit file? Thanks btw, my file is not clipped. the levels are not high at all. The sound is just distorted from being recorded while clipping. If that makes sense.

I watched a couple other videos about this issue and it sort of works, but not exactly for what I'm trying to do. I have a lot of CDs that have the music that are over mastered and really LOUD. I've tried toning them down, but their still LOUD. I've tried using this method, but it still leaves a few spikes and then leaves some areas sounding muffled. Unfortunately we can't go back ad re-record or remaster a CD that's been pushed into overload. I've used the Normalize mode to try and tone them down, but wished there was a trick to UNLOUD them as their still clipped off at the top. Guess I'll keep experimenting.

My audio sounds way worse but the declipper does not pick up anything until it's at 25% tolerance and doesn't fix it :(
