Fixing Dodge Caravan Sliding Door that Won't Close - Rear Latch Replacement

The goal here is to help anyone else who may be experiencing the same problems we were and give them guidance and confidence to fix it yourself.
The sliding door on our 08 Dodge Caravan has not worked properly in years. The buttons would not open or close the door. The door would 'try' to open, but wouldn't. So we knew our buttons/wiring was not the problem. And opening the door manually would not allow us to close the door because the rear latch wasn't working right. Thus, we didn't use the door in 3 + years.
Spoiler, replacing the rear latch fixed our problems completely! Now the buttons open and close the door automatically and manually opening the door is working too.
We believe 2008 - 2017 all use the same latch.

i have been working on cars for 33 years. 20 0f them in gm dealerships and this design is the dumbest damn thing i have seen dodge do yet . keep things like this up and we will saying goodbye to mopar !!!!!!

To get that inner panel off at those for prongs, there is a lock tab to keep it sliding. I took a long handled screwdriver and went down from the top and wedged the blade in there so it would clear. I also sprayed the tabs with penetrating oil to help it slide.

2016 dodge van manual door with just the rear hatch being bad. This much work just to replace the latch is unreal. I can't get the latch to move at all from the outside, and door wont close all the way. What a pain.

How in the heck did you get it off those 3 slide clip things?!?!?! I’m almost in tears fighting this dang door haha

I'm having the same problem with my 2018 van. I replaced the door latch actuator hoping that would fix it but no luck, so I think I need to try again with the latch. Did you have a REALLY hard time getting the lock assembly and window track back in place? It took me forever!

Lets say you couldnt get the door open..how would get those two screws off by the door handle panel?

My window bracket got bent, plastic tab broke off and there was no green rod holder so I used tape to keep it from falling off.

Im trying to figure out how to get the window bracket back on, i changed my actuator but im having a hard time understanding how the widow bracket that us attached to the actuator goes back on
