This video demonstrates how to ladder down a span of stitches in order to correct a mis-crossed cable. Instead of ripping back entire rows/rounds of stitches, or laddering down only one stitch at a time, all of the stitches involved in the error are laddered down at the same time, and then re-knit, row by row.

After completely 17 rows of a large bed spread cable project (dual color, blu white cabling, I discovered the wrong cross. This technique is a life saver, not to mention my hours and hours of work invested. I got a little sad about the mistake. This lesson on how to fix it was easy to understand. Thanks for saving me hours of work and making my surprise project gift, returned to something I can be proud of. Thank you!

Thank you!!! I made a boo boo in a cable and did not want to rip it out and figured "there has to be a way to fix this without ripping out 30 rows of 295 stitches just to fix that! (My bad - I should have looked much earlier!) So I thought "Who would I check? I know! Roxanne will know!" Sure enough - there it was! Now my one boo boo is fixed and I only needed to do a tiny bit of "wiggling" to get the stitches to loosen up. Thanks so much for saving me hours of work!

True confession: I was 90% done with a very complex cable sweater project when I realized I misdirected a cable a dozen rows back. Impetuously, I took the whole sweater off the needles and ripped back, realizing as I went that I had lost track which row I was on. Worse yet, it was dark navy yarn with high alpaca content and got frizzy as I worked back. Took forever to get 176 stitches back on the needle, figure where I was, join new yarn etc. Two days later Lightning struck again, but this time I had to presence of mind to search and find your video. Fixed it in 25 minutes! Bless your heart!

OMG! I can't tell you how much you saved my sanity! Even following your instructions, I was terrified (because I didn't practice on a swatch - I went right for the error I was trying to fix.) Heart was pounding, but it worked perfectly on my first try thanks to your instructions. How embarrassing is it that I knit 35 rows, nearly finishing my project, before noticing I had forgotten to cross one of the cables? My husband looked at it and said, "Just start over." (Thanks, hon.) I turned to this video to ladder down through 4 cables to reach the one I had forgotten to cross. The tip for bundling the stitches and pairing the strands that make up a cable on the way down is truly genius. I would have had an absolute disaster and followed my husband's suggestion after all! This is the only video I found that demonstrated laddering through other cables to reach the error. I'm still amazed I was able to repair it--I feel like I could fix a jet engine now. Lol. Thank you, Roxanne! You are an exceptional teacher and really do ROCK!

That was great! I had a slightly different problem where I dropped a stitch about 7 rows back, just above where the cable twist began. I could see no way to "ladder" it back up with a crochet hook. So, this let me pull out just the affected area without ripping out 7 very long rows of a blanket. Thank you!

Thank you for this tutorial! I have to mention that I am a continental knitter and I have searched high and low to find ANYONE who PURLS continental like me and you are the ONLY one I've found!! We keep our 'yarn guide' pointer finger straight for both knit and purl but we move our middle finger forward on the left hand when purling. I was a crocheter first and taught myself both crafts. After being frustrated with my tension while purling, as was suggested for continental, I just did it this way and it felt completely natural (and so much quicker!). I think its really cool that I found another like me :)

Thank you for this video. I have fixed a lot of wrong cabels and honeycombs. I use the same method, but I only ladder down half of the stiches. In your example I would rip down the first 3 stiches. I would choose the stiches wrongly put under the other, because it is easier to correct, putting it on the top.
