Fixing My Broken Corvette

Жыл бұрынToday we install a new master cylinder on my C6 Corvette. A few days after purchasing the car my clutch failed, and the symptoms led me to believe the issue was the master cylinder. Let's hope this fixes it!

You should show how to dissconnect the line to the slave. I read it needs a special tool.

if the master was bad that means the slave was working overtime. They should really be replaced together

It wasn't necessary "bad" for a long time, it's just a part that can be working perfectly and then fail without warning. It was very common on these cars and GM had a service bulletin put out a decade ago.

@@RDMotoring yep, if yours was never changed in the bulletin you can sometimes finagle GM to pay for it too ;)

Maybe I could have tried, but it missed the window but 4 years. Decided not to worry about it too much lol

Luckily I didn't have to. The master came pre-filled and the little amount of air that may have been there just self bled through the top of the reservoir

@@jerrygautney6569 hey believe it or not I had to do this a couple months ago. Bench bleed the new one and put silicone around the connector and install. You will have to pump it several times.

Master cylinders come pre filled and you can usually get away with just manually pumping the clutch with the front of the car facing slightly uphill so the air escapes through the reservoir. Look up the "ranger method" too. Good way to easily cycle through clean fluid.

I honestly don't remember... Maybe summit racing? I do know I made sure to get GM part# 19331709 as it was redesigned to hopefully not fail again
