Welcome back!
In this video i am repairing the damage to my Jeep Wranglers rear quarter panel that happened at Rausch Creek offroad park (video here: • Wheeling The Hardest T... )
In order to cover up the body damage, and prevent from happening again while offroad, i went with a set of Poison Spyder Customs Crusher Corner armor.
The corner armor fits very well on the Jeep Wrangler, and wraps up along the top edge which is something i needed.
Installing the corner armor is not too difficult but requires multiple steps and some special tools.
Listed below are the tools to do the job.
Corner Armor: amzn.to/2MilvKz
PowderCoated Armor: amzn.to/2Ml57Je
Or call Gill at Offroad Elements and mention the channel for a discount: (774) 826-9948
Nutsert Tool: amzn.to/2nhfWn8
2 3/4" hole saw: amzn.to/2MeXrbu
Cheap Tail lights: amzn.to/31MhDbg
Nice Tail Lights: maxbilt.com/collections/trail... These will need the flush mount adapter plates
Cheap Reverse Lights: amzn.to/335aQJX
PS Full Led Kit: amzn.to/2oZaSnP
Led Resistor: amzn.to/2LQRYsz
With all that said, you dont have to go crazy and spend a ton of money on corner armor and lights to have a good setup for offroad.
I do recommend corner armor, since it will prevent damage like mine. Luckily, i was able to get the dents out enough for a fairly decent looking outcome.
JK Tail light wiring:
Driver Side: White/Green =Turn White/Orange= Park/running lights White/Grey= Reverse
Passenger: White/Yellow= Turn White/Purple= Park/running lights White/Grey= Reverse
Black=Ground
Like always, i hope you enjoyed the video and more importantly learned a few things!
The next video will be the DIY 3 link videos!!!! I know you guys have been waiting for it, and as i type this, the video is in the works. Im excited for the outcome, and i have a feeling the Jeeps new suspension is going to work great!
Make sure to give the video a thumbs up and leave a comment!
Thank you for your support as always,
-Ben

Looks great. I really like the taillight setup as well. The times I've worked out dents, I've had good luck always starting on the outside of the dent and working small sections in a circular pattern towards the center. The biggest tip from one non body man to another patience is your friend.

I could've really used this video last week, trying to figure out what wire was what to splice into was a PIMA LoL. Like you mentioned, my biggest regret doing mine was not dry fitting, aligning & nutserting prior to getting them painted. I skipped RTV and went with weather stripping to seal it up. I'm soo stoked for you with Trail To SEMA!

Another great video. If you are wondering, a stud weld gun would have been your friend pulling out the dent. It welds studs onto the body panels that you can use to pull on. Once finished, just snap them off and finish.

Good job Ben. Along with clamps I used ratchet straps from the passengerside door striker to the tailgate striker. Really helps suck the corner armor to the body. Hope that helps others in the future.

I used RTV on my rivnuts. It really made a difference when tightening the bolts which prevented them from spinning. I also used a chainsaw blade file to clean up the holes before I primed them.

Ben, the key to body work is to read the damage and work it out in the reverse order that it was formed. For a simple dent formed by a single pressure point into the body, this means starting around the perimeter of the dent and working towards the center. If you start at the center and try to press it out, you will stretch the metal and make more work for yourself. Do a search for "The Key to Metal Bumping" by Frank Sargent. It's dated, and doesn't cover newer techniques like PDR, but does cover the fundamentals of traditional body work.

Just a heads up, you can go to an automotive paint store and get a can or two of Factory paint mixed into a spray can. When you get back from your trip, you can take off your Corner armor and take some time to properly prep the panels and get a decent spray can finish in your garage or something. I would also put put seam sealer on those area that you cut out of your tail lights. From the video it looks like there is a gap where moisture can enter. The seam sealer is what OEM uses to seal up the seams to prevent seepage. Very easy to use and then you can paint over it and it will protect you big time.

I swear we must have hit the same rock, I just got done installing the evo corners for exactly the same reason in exactly the same spot. Advice for anyone else doing corners, go to harbor freight and get a $12 set of transfer punches. Every single hole I drilled was exactly where it was supposed to be. Rivnut tools are a lot of fun. 10 years ago I just ran self tappers through the body when I needed a ground or to mount a compressor. This is just a much cleaner way to do it.

Without reading the other comments I'm sure the main consensus is "Nice Work" and that is my comment too. You can imagine how many Jeeps have had this very same fix applied (which means Poison Spider probably has a big smile on their face and a nice fat profit margin). When you do the best trails there's bound to be beauty marks or what my Jeep group likes to call "Badges of Honor"....after all "We Will Wreck Your Shit" (or at least give you an opportunity to wreck your own shit.) Happy Wheeling Ben and Classy Cassie.

Nice install! Use the RTV and when you lay a the bead you need to let it cure for about 1- 2 hrs. Letting it cure will actually form a gasket. Then you install the armor 1/4. Also, since you are driving to SEMA you should keep an eye out for the tail lights at the truck stop when you fill up.

Should have just put a bead of silicone around the inside edges of the armor, woulda kept stuff from getting down in between the armor and the body panel, for future reference. letting it partially cure so it doesnt smear as much keeps it from bein such an adhesive but still provides a seal
