Nice job! Like me, you went into this knowing what you had and not expecting it to be a 50 thousand dollar digger.😁

I had a Kubota U-25 for a couple years, loved it, but sold it (for what I paid for it, after putting 150 hours on it) and even it's 2 speed travel was slow, still faster than one of these though. Being so light though, I could see trailering it more rather than walking it, on a large job site, I have 70 acres.

@@portnuefflyeroh this would be horrible to drive on 70 acres! I have two acres and it’s awesome. I even occasionally trailer it across the yard. Haha.

I do not have a mini excavator but when I was in the US Coast Guard, one of the ships I was on used similar grip tape in the deck. They always had drain channels between the sections to allow water to run off and they would seal the edges with a glue. This served the purpose of sealing the edges so that water could not get underneath. Fully exposed to sun and plenty of water they could get close to a year or more out of each section. Might be something to add when you replace it next time.

Nice! They seem to be great machines. I have a few more upgrades coming, but it worked great out of the box.

You can add a steel plate to the counter balance on the back to help with the tipping. 3/4”should do it.
@OurLifeInTrees
@OurLifeInTrees 4 ай бұрын
That’s a good plan. Where would I find something like that?
@rainman6080
@rainman6080 4 ай бұрын
Any fabrication shop should have steel plate. May be cheaper getting some scrap from them than ordering a 4x8 sheet. Just attach with grade 8 bolts from like grainger so no chance of sheering off. You would be adding roughly 30 pounds per square foot you add with 3/4” plate.
@portnuefflyer

@@rainman6080 As a 30 ton boom truck operator, who added a 1400 pound counterweight, I can attest to the fact that that would be the first thing I'd do with one of these little units.

Have you knocked off the grease fitting on the bucket knuckle yet? Give it time and you will. To avoid this, I replaced the Chinese fitting with a zert fitting, unbolted the hydro arm from the knuckle and spun it 180o si the fitting is on the inside and protected.

I added 2 more lights to the front of my mini, that really helped when you run out of daylight and need to drive it back.

Also get some rubber spaces 1/2" thick or thicker for under the seat to add some cushion and "suspension". Save your back!!

Great video. I have an HT10 which looks almost identical. I found the short clip of taking the counter weight off interesting. I have yet to do that. Is it only the two bolts and how heavy is it? Keep the videos coming.

Thanks! That’s the next video. Weighing the counterweight. lol. I really want to compare a Highttop HT10 to mine. I think they are so close to the same. I want to find someone with one close to Oklahoma. Or maybe if these videos do well, I’ll buy one to compare.

I didn’t mean to take six days to upload the video on the counterweight. I actually filmed it all on the day I uploaded this video, it took a week to edit because … well, my job interferes with my KZfaq. Haha

I wonder about adding heat-sound shield to the engine bay would make it quiter and less heat on the back of your legs. I would ad 2 12 volt mini fans to the unit one pulling and one pushing air to reduce heat in the engine bay. I would use windshield edge rubber on the seat platform and the edges of the engine bay.
@OurLifeInTrees
@OurLifeInTrees 4 ай бұрын
All good ideas. I already have e a fan. The door edge guard is a good idea. I may try more heat shield on the engine day. Good call.

The seem to work just fine. I suppose if I pressed my leg flat on it I could feel them. I had bolts in the shop and no flush screws. They seem to work great. I didn’t drive to a hardware store to buy some.

On a lot of hydraulic excavators you can turn up the hydraulic pump to increase your hydraulic/travel speed. Something else you could do is to put a 12-volt fan on one of the posts to blow on you when it gets hot outside.
