My blower motor wouldn't run in the top speed. The problem was NOT the blower motor resister or the blower motor itself. It was the switch! Here's how I fixed it for $0.00

Friend I admire your ability to diagnose the issue and do the repair......mine in my 93 Yota pickup wont work on Med/Hi and Hi switch very hard to move so i bought a new on line for $8 I hope my 93 is as easy to get to like your early Tacoma.....Great job

You are a king sir, never thought to try and squeeze a few cents out of the job by rebuilding a switch that wasn’t completely burnt

I had to do a little more work as far as disassembly of the lower dash, semi disassembly of glove box and of course the screws holding my radio in we’re stripped I had to loosen the cover over the gauge assembly to get enough room to jiggle the switch out. Mine actually failed where the copper contact on the selector came off and wasn’t contacting any of the settings. Put it back together and bam AC in south Florida in July ladies and gentlemen. Thanks again man, cheers!

Thanks so MUCH for making this video. I couldn't figure out what was holding the fan switch in after I finally got to it. I see you just punched it downwards.

Glad it helped. I have since replaced the switch with a sliding potentiometer that controls a cheap motor controller to run the fan..this has worked flawlessly for years now. And it gave me full analog control of the fan speed! I would recommend doing the same as the blower motor resistor switch will just keep failing

Hello. '97 4Runner here, same piece. Same symptom, all speeds normal, but high (very low). Opened it up, but complete burn out, and wiring "blackened" also. Bought a replacement, but still low on high. Looks like wiring is issue. Suggestions? TY!

Can one of these badly worn blower motor switches (It has almost no tactile feedback or clicking when cycling thru speeds) cause the A/C to not work? My 95 4Runner's compressor will only engage on the lowest two fan speeds and if I move the fan speed up to a higher one, I hear the compressor clutch relay click off. Thanks!

For anybody wondering along. there's a clip on the top side of the housing you gotta lift up. then push the switch towards the back and it should slide right off.

There is more than one version of that switch....some toyotas switch needs to be replaced with all controls....in other words switch can not be replaced alone as shown on this video...

Shame your audio sucks, but I think this is my issue too. Unfortunately I'm not paying $60 for a switch or $150 for a new head unit.
