I have this self headcanon about Juvia's strength cause I see a lot of people saying she got nerfed after she joined FT. My headcanon is this: Juvia always felt alone before she joined FT. She was in Phantom but they weren't family. She said so herself that before FT, she never knew it could be so warm in a guild. Gray also isn't her first "relationship." We see it in her backstory that she got dumped. And even though she did date, it still rained. That relationship was not enough to push the rain away. She had people around her but she was still alone. For a long time, she had to be strong on her own. But after joining FT, after meeting Gray, and after seeing the blue sky, she realized she had people around her. She had people she could rely on. And though the entire theme of FT is that bonds make one stronger, for Juvia, her bonds allowed her to be less strong. She didn't need to be strong all the time because she was with people who could be strong for her. Other characters, despite their trauma, were together since childhood. Natsu, Gray, Erza, Mira, Cana were together since they were kids. Lucy joined late but growing up, she had her celestial spirits and staff at her house. Juvia was always alone. So it's a bit sad that her powers are not as strong anymore when she is supposed to be an S-class level mage. But if this means she could relax a bit in the comfort of her friends, then it's fine. Which would probably explain why she's so good at unison raids (with Lucy, Gray, and Meredy)

Gray's just been a closet tsundere this whole time LOL. In all seriousness though I'm glad they stopped making their ship as much of a punch line and actually gave them some nice moments. I do think if he truly didn't like her before he'd have told her off at some point, but it was still difficult watching her get drug along as he didn't make his thoughts on it known and kept her guessing/hopeful.
