Great film. Will never forget my yellow Fizzy DX MCL 385P and the sense of freedom of that summer of '76. Brilliant days!

Had my brand new FS1-E delivered on my 16th birthday-the 16th of December 1976. And now roughly 50 odd bikes later it is the only one who’s registration number I can remember- PVO673R. That little bike changed my life and I never looked back.

Wow, taken me back in time, I had a 1975, in purple . Got it from Jack nice auto's in Leyton East London, was £12 a month on HP. Saved up and bought the , rear rack, front crash bars, mirrors, and sidewinder backrest. My mates had fizzies, Honda ss, gilira, mz, and a puch. We all had to have full face helmets, which we paid weekly off our mums caterlog. The days weren't long enough, and the summers we thought we were the biz. Everyone has their own story of growing up and having so much fun while owning a fizzy, in my opinion, one of the most iconic moped in British history, and watching this video has made me 16yr old again. A big big thank you chaps for keeping the fizzies where they belong, on the road for everyone to see. All the best 👍

What a great time the seventies were for 50s fs1e Honda ss50s Suzuki aps kid today have no idea and would be so jealous if ever they new what great times and adventures we had back then

My first moped in 1975 was a Puch MS50D, the sense of freedom was fantastic, not having to take the bus or the tube or my cycle to get anywhere was fabulous. I sold the Puch and bought an FSIE, mates of mine had them and it was always seen as the ‘King of the Mopeds’. I progressed to bigger bikes throughout the years and now in my 60’s still ride and tour around Europe with mates. Nothing beats that sense of freedom that two wheels gives you, thanks for the nostalgic trip down memory lane

Days of old were the best. Shame our next generation are not going to experience the life we lived back then.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, I had two of these when I was 16 in 77, first one was purple GMU 31N, then a yellow DX can't remember the reg on that one, great times running down to Southend ... My mate had a fantic GT just loved the sound that made, then at 17 on to a RD250E still with Japanese now only it's a car.....96 skyline r33...☺️..

I love this way of cultivating a legacy! Here in Germany there is something similar, it's called an 'interest group' (Interessengemeinschaft), and in the 50cc area it's mostly about Kreidler, Zündapp, Hercules or Simson. The Fizzy was available in Germany at the time, but never very popular. The motor unit was perceived as very ugly. At that time, all Japanese manufacturers had a hard time in the German 50cc market, both with the so-called mokicks (limited at 40 kph or 24.85 mph), as well as with the 'open' 50cc (limited at that time at 6.25 hp, whereby the German so-called 'Kleinkrafträder' (small motorcycles) of this class were often more powerful than that, and the Japanese ones were mostly weaker). Fizzy's sad highlight was the design of the Yamaha FS80SE in the short-lived 80cc class. A short time later all West German producers had disappeared from the market and the 125cc class (A1 license from the age of 16) - now called 'Leichtkraftrad' (light motorcycle) - moved in, but that's another story. Simson from the GDR by the way still plays a special role today. In the GDR they were allowed to drive up to 60 kph. The German-German unification treaty stipulated that all Simsons brought into circulation up to February 28, 1992 could also be driven by holders of the M or AM driver's license (normally limited to 45 kph) and with a car driver's license. That's why to this day old Simson bikes and even pre 1992 Simson frames are weighed in gold and all the spare parts are available to drive a legal 60kph bike in the 45kph class.

The late 70s great times, I had an fs1e DX, my mates has Suzuki ap 50s and gilarias. I’m 60 now and still riding. Happy days.

As a scooter boy who started off my lifelong riding life on an AP50 in 1976 I just love the lure of the blue smoke. Ive always had scooters, as well as a GP750 and a Bandit 1200 amongst others, but that 2 stroke smell and sound just takes me back to being 16 every time I smell it.

Great days back in the 70s, I had a TY50.. little thing was indestructible, the abuse it got.. Good to see these old machines and the community thriving..

Totally appreciate this documentary. 1985 ...1986 was the year I was zooming around on my Pedal Working R reg Fizzer.(never called Fizzy s round my way ). ORY 610R .Baja brown. Flat bars ....Micron.... Yamaha fork stickers .. Engine bars (to fill the gap.) Rear light moved nearer to seat . (For a more sporty ..Beefier look..). Thanks folks for keeping the spirit alive. (By the way mine went 56mph. ) Feet on rear indicators...Head on tank .Downhill. In 1985 .This mattered. Cheers to each and everyone of you in this video. 🍻

This was the first bike I ever rode . It was 50CC bike that acted like 250. It blew my mind. The speed the power and sheer thrilling factor. I could not afford on so I got a second hand Honda PF50 for £70.

Great video. Nice to get a inside view, before i get mine up and running. My dad had a 76 dx in his days, so we are building it up from scratch. It really bonds people together.

I'm 60 and ride a Ninja H2 these days, but I'll never forget my silver (painted) Fizzy.

Mate of mine had one of these in 1984 when we were 16, it was the quickest moped around until I put a 60 bore kit on my dt50 😎 Great times

Oh the memories, my choice of transport back in the day with 2 of my best mates were Suzuki ER 50’s which we thought were the coolest thing on 2 wheels. Oh how we laughed when another pal turned out on a fizzy……the smiles on our faces didn’t last very long mind when he left us all for dead at the first set of traffic lights 😩

FS1E were the bike's to have back in 1976, my first bike was a Honda ss50, slow or what but fun, just got my 16th bike, Ducati v2 panigale and won't be getting another bike after this one, great times back then, fun hot days.

Fantastic video that brought back great memories from my youth I dinny have a fs1e but knew lots who had Inc the wee Suzi ap50. Then the resticted 50s came out, I remember a pal who bought a wee ty50 that imo was the sexiest wee 50 on the road.. And then a Garelli Tiger came along and spoiled the party!, Great little bike the Fizzie, quick, strong & reliable, I do know this as fact as I worked in a Yamaha Dealer mid 70’s through, and , in fact I am still at it today, great video.

Overbore to 80CC, flow the ports and drop a DT80 piston kit in, big needle and jet kit, knock the restrictor ring and bafflers out of the exhaust, put an ER50 front end on it with drop handlebars, swap the rear wheel and drive sprocket for one off a CB200 and it's a beast. I had great fun with that bike when I was 12.

I bought a brand new fs1e,,in 1981 from a local dealer called road & trial in rhyl North wales,,,£474,,,I still remember the reg plate xfm 112w,,,,,happy days in blue & white.

Brilliant - im 52 and never knew where ''fizzy'' came from - didnt get my first bike until i was 18 - suzuki 80 , so missed the fizzy part of my bike journey

I had an R reg DX in red with a Beeline spanny, was a fantastic bike until some woman pulled out in front of me which caved the front end in,, GUTTED Got an X7 with the insurance money and sold the fizzy to a mate for spares. Am restoring an S reg X7 and got a V reg donor. Brings back so many great memories! Thank you for sharing 👌🏻

The only new bike I ever owned,Garelli record 50cc,cost 137 pounds in 1972,loved that bike,now at the age of 67, I'm riding a 1995 Suzuki Intruder 1400, love this bike as much as I loved that little Garelli all those years ago.

1981 when I got my FS1E .....Great Days and great Social Scene. The anticipation as your 16th Birthday approached is still unforgettable, the envy if your Mates Birthday was a couple of weeks earlier than yours..... Then out on the road ! it really was a rite of passage, out on the road with your mates. Sadly the Fizzy has gone, but I have still got my Z1 outside in the Garage that came a couple of years later ! Still makes me feel like a young lad again every time I take a ride.

That was brilliant. The 70's were a golden time for bikes. I had a KTM Comet Cross back in '77. Think it produced a whopping 3 bhp.

Had a 74 m reg back in 1980 WKT something or other M I think the reg was. Really loved the freedom of having my first bike.Thinking back I reckon we had more fun trying to go fast then than we do actually going fast on bikes now!

Great to see the fun! And yes i had one too, in 1987. now i'm 53. 50cc and it ran 125 km/h and i have to change the crankshaftbearings every 3 weeks!

I had a Suzuki 50cc GT in the mid/late 70s. Darn…I messed up a few..ha. I could get 145km/hr out one of them. It was the time of the YamahaRD, Honda 50cc four strokes, Fantic Caballero, Mobylette automatic, Zundapp, Kreidler,and many more. We used to weld our own expansion chambers too, what a noise. Drove my neighborhood crazy..ha. My gosh…what great times we had.!!!! Best time of my life.

I started in 1975 on a Puch VZ50 Sport, I then progressed to a Honda SS50 and very soon after bought an FS1-E, as soon as I was 17 I bought a Suzuki T250 Hustler, now in my 60's I ride a Kawasaki Z900RS, a Triumph Thruxton 900 and an old Suzuki T500, I have to admit that I'm now a "fair weather" rider, the Thruxton is going to have to go because of the riding position hurting my back and legs. I'm never happier than when I'm riding.

Had my FS1-E for my 16th birthday in 1973, beautiful candy gold. £149 on the road! Good for a tad over 40mph or maybe a bit more with your head down. Anything more in standard trim was wishful thinking. Great little bike was the best of the bunch if not the very quickest.

Keeping with the 1970s theme, the guitar alongside the Marshall amp at 18:13 is an original Shergold Masquerader. Shergold was born out of the failed "Hayman" brand, and I once owned a Hayman Modular guitar. It turns out they only made a handful of these, and, like the FS1-E, they're now worth a fortune. Needless to say, I let mine go for buttons!

Mine was the gold/yellow version, this has reminded me of how I felt back then at age 16 and to have that freedom. Nice video, thanks!

My first bike was a fs1e I loved it wish I had kept it never once let me down I actually got 65 mph out of it

As an Aussie the equivalent experience for me is the CB, CD, CL, GL and SL 175 Honda twins. I'm 60, going on 16... never even bothered to get a car license until my mid 40's. My first bike was an SL 175 which I purchased based on exhaust note alone... and then proceeded to mod into a micro-cruiser before manufactured metric cruisers like the CM 250 Honda were even a thing. That bike set me free to "cross state lines". And I've been crossing lines set by the state ever since. I've got about 14 bikes in my shed ATM, including CB, CD, CL, and GL 175's... well, except the GL, which is actually in my lounge room... I have never found another SL, let alone my original "cruiser". I deeply empathise with these Pohmmy blokes who have gone searching for their long lost first love...

My first bike was a GT380, next was a brand new 400cc Honda Hawk, felt so smooth.

I had a pre-restriction 1976 "R" registration Fizzy, four years old when I got it. It was slow until I de-coked it (the exhaust port was two thirds blocked!). With a set of drop bars and my chin on the tank, I once saw 57 mph! On the clock. Those were the days...

FS1E WAS THE ONE ! GOT EVERYONE HOOKED.

I had a Honda SS50 in 1976, it was cheaper to buy than the FS1E, but not as much fun. The long hot Summer of 76! I didn't lose much money due to the restricted mopeds coming in and bought a CB250G5 when I was 17.

Well that brings back so many memories.

This really takes me back when I was an eager 16 year old buying my first moped. A 1977 /78 Yamaha FS1M, I think it was the first year that the FS1M had the autolube! It's funny even after 42 years I can still remember the registration....S50 SOS To this day, I still kick myself knowing that I part exchanged it for £60! when I was 17.

Ah! I had a purple fizzy, my mate Pete said his garelli tiger cross was way faster. So we went along broadmeads and I put mine into 4th a bit too early to be honest, but he cruised past me and put his into top and wobbled off accelerating into the distance! They were bloody fragile though, always doing the mains. LYA 434 P miss you baby.

I had a fizzy in the late 80's. Used to go to high school on it and park it outside. It had a very loud micron exhaust, 65cc big bore and micron racing handlebars that my knees would get stuck between. I rode it quite a lot for a few months. Heat seized it after a rebuild because I got into a race when I should have been running it in. Also got a seven day wonder while I was waiting for my insurance to come through my mates all turned up on their mbikes and i just had to go out with them.. got some points and a fine for that. Happy times :)

I got 66mph down a very steep road on my FS1E I was so happy, never forget when I pick it up with my dad when I was 16yrs old in 1981 then took it to School happy memories.

That was brilliant to see that vid.. I had a blue R reg unrestricted FS1E dx with 6 miles on the clock in 1979 which changed my life but alway got pipped flat out by a mate on an annoying drop handlebar Suzuki AP50 with an expansion chamber grrr . Best of luck to you guys I'm jealous

Had a DT50MX that had been tweaked by its previous owner, it left all other 50's for dead except for an FS1E I came across one day. I couldnt believe the old fashioned 'sit up and beg' bike could go that fast.

Loved the video great bunch of people, never had a fizzy had moved on to cars by then but loads of mates had em. First bike was Villiers 9E bloke in our village had converted it to a trials bike, it was defenately a rideout push home bike always something vibrating lose or falling off but it looked the tits. My ist motorbike was my last push bike, sold it to a guy that took it to Wales 73 ERO was the registration. Lost count of all the bikes I've had since still have a FZS 1000 but this video has got me hankering for the smell of a two stroke.

I remember that there were gazillions of these, they were everywhere! Lovely, well made little things they were, and very few were left standard for long, usually until the next wages packet enabled some upgrades.

Back in the 80's after turning 17 and getting used to riding his suzuki GP100 my friend decided to rebuild his Fizzy before selling it , he stripped that engine 7 times because it wouldn't go into second gear before he remembered all the gears were down.

Never had one being born in 74 i just missed them , but I used too wish i had one as a kid ! Brilliant machine even too watch ! Id have one today but the prices are silly .

I had a 1976 R reg fizzy in 1987 when I was 16 purple lovely condition sold it for 3hundred quid 😥 if only u can see the future these days I have a 1980 honda c70 fully restored these bikes have shot up in value to mines worth about three grand still rising.

My first road legal bike was a fizzy (PTX145M) and I loved it until the gearbox problems. I replaced it with a DT50 (ADW955T) which was also a great bike. Brilliant memories

We must've had it good here in Australia, I was born in 1962 and got my motorcycle and car license at 16, had a V8 Ford car and a 650 Yamaha and also a 650 BSA Gold Flash that my old next door neighbor gave me for my 16th birthday. I bought the 650 Yam from my mates dad who raced speedway and motocross and my dad got me the V8 Ford for my birthday. I also got my gun license at 15 and on that birthday I got my gun license and my dad bought me a 44 mag lever action for hunting pigs. I had to wait till I was 18 for a hand gun license though. Australia was a great place back then and I had the childhood most dream about. Motorcycles on the road and dirt, hunting fishing, camping surfing, boating, it was great times

Nice . I live in Canada and only imported here 1 yr 1977 . So there very rare here . Didn't know what they were till someone was selling 1 a few yrs ago . As a recovering yamaholic I had to buy it . Fun little bikes .

I had a Honda pc50 (my mum's) like a really weak Cub, a cooler friend had a Suzuki AC50, nice motorbike styled moped. Another fiesty little mate had a yellow Fizzy and was a mad fast rider. Now I'm 60 the window cleaner bought a Fizzy for like £6k. I now ride a Honda crf300l.

Italjet 50’s of the early 80’s, were just as quick as the jap 80’s. Pity the big wheel enduro stuff, didn’t make it to my country.

I had a Garelli Rekord as my first bike. It had the round tank which was the new style in 1974
