Gebraucht gekaufte FJ1200 mit 57000 km, 16 Jahre beim Vorbesitzer.
Ein Motorrad "frisch aus der Fachwerkstatt" und ohne Baustellen... 🤬
Der Vorbesitzer hat in der "Fachwerkstatt Pablo Montoya" in München für 700€ eine "Inspektion" durchführen lassen. (Name geändert um die Schuldigen zu schützen):
Lt. vorliegender Rechnung wurden alle von mir gefundenen Mängel und Defekte bei der Inspektion vorher behoben: 🤑
- Vergaser 1 und 2 falsch synchronisiert (siehe Fotos HP)
- Leerlauf schwankt, läuft kaum ohne Choke...
- Original Luftfilter, zerbröselte in meinen Händen
- Luftfilterschläuche (Verbindung 1+2) alt und eingerissen
-Vergaser-Membranen alt und verschlissen
- Vergaser innen voller Rost
- Haupt- und Nebendüsen mit schmierigen Ablagerungen verstopft
- verliert Öl an der Fußdichtung rechts
- Bremsscheiben v. unter Maß, Beläge verschlissen, Bremsöl alt
- Bremsöl hinten uralt.
- Gabelöl uralt
- Kupplungsöl alt und voll schwarzer Brösel
- Steuerlager oben und unten angerostet und fast fettfrei...
- Schwingenlager ausgeschlagen, beide Lager fettfrei und verrostet
- Schutzblech vorne und Verkleidung an diversen Stellen gebrochen
- MRA-Tourenscheibe mit der Säge schief abgesägt
- Kontaktschalter Kupplung und Bremse am Lenker ohne Funktion
- 6 bis 8 Bar Kompression!
- TÜV neu!!!
Obwohl ich alle obigen Fehler gefunden und beseitigt habe (und noch viele mehr) ist die Kiste weiterhin unzuverlässig.
Das waren ÜBER 2.000€ Materialkosten und viel Arbeit.
Alle Service- und Reparatur arbeiten habe ich selbst durchgeführt, ggf. auch 2x! 🤐
Incl. Motor zerlegen, Stehbolzen erneuern, Ventile neu einschleifen, usw....
Auf meiner HP. habe ich einen sehr langen Bericht über alle Instandsetzungsarbeiten und erneuerten Teile verfasst. 🛠 Sowie auch alle weiteren Pannen & Defekte bis heute!!! 🤑🤮🤬
Um es mit den Worten eines geneigten Lesers auszudrücken: Jeder andere hätte das Ding in den Fluss getreten!
Das mit dem "läuft 200.000 km nur mit Öl und Reifen wechseln, halte ich für ein Internetmärchen... die Kiste hat mehr Schwachstellen als meine XJ600, mehr als ein Baumarktroller!
Im "FJ-Forum" wurde mir erzählt, das mit den Riefen in den Nockenwellenlagern wäre "noch nie vorgekommen"!! Ein anderer FJ-Fahrer (aus dem Forum) hat mir aber erzählt, das er genau das gleiche Problem hatte, nur das sein Motor schrott war!!!
Entweder haben die mich angelogen oder nur Scheiße gelabert!
Aktuell 123.000km und läuft seit 10.000km ohne Pannen & Defekte... Mal sehen, wie lange!

I had a 1989 FJ1200 for 1989- 1996. It had 55,000 miles / 88,514 Km when it was stolen. It ran as well when stolen as the day I bought it. It helped if once a year you checked and tightened the bolts/fasteners that held the upper fairing to the subframe and the subframe to the bike frame. They came loose on the right hand side once. Unlike modern water-cooled inline four engines, there are no balance shafts, so there is a steady low level 2nd order vibration in the grips and that upper fairing, but never anything that threatened to put my hands to sleep or even annoy them. I do remember doing a 900 mile / 1450 Km day and a 1600 mile / 2575 Km two day weekend. The only thing that gave me trouble was my butt - by the end it had had enough! But 500 mile / 805 Km days were easy. What I remember of the startup procedure was: Pull full choke, verify the side stand was up, verify the bike is in neutral, start, put on my Aerostich suit, my helmet, my glasses, and then my gloves. Then mount the bike, take it off the center stand, verify idle rpms are as expected, take the choke off, and ride away. When starting from stone cold, It only took 2-3 minutes to put a little heat into the carbs to run properly. It also meant all bearings had plenty of oil before any kind of load was being put on them - good for long life. I was pretty religious about changing the oil every 3000 miles / 4800 Km and lubing the chain every 300 miles / 480 Km or the end of the day. I replaced the chain at 45000 miles / 72400 Km not because it looked like it needed it but because I got nervous - How long are these things supposed to last? The dealer did tell me on one occasion that I made things last as long or longer than any other customer he had. I don't do stunts - my understanding is it's not a good wheelie bike - to long and to heavy. I don't do crazy speed through traffic. I can count on one hand the number of times I felt the need to deploy the speed this machine is capable of. There are crazy people out there - be safe. It tops out at 150 MPH / 240 Km per hour. I tend to worry about all the things that can go wrong at top speed - other vehicles coming out of nowhere, chain breaking and smashing the transmission case, animals coming out of nowhere, whatever - it won't matter, whatever happened you will likely be a very long red stripe on the road.

You should pull the choke to max, and turn the FJ on and leave it for some time... in time reducing choke... until it is HOT and READY to ROLL :-)

If your comment is in regard to the machine not running very well: The machine has 57000 Km in a minimum of 24 years, for an average of 1475 miles / 2375 Km per year. That's pitiful. I've seen a number of machines like this. The #1 problem is they spend so much time sitting, the carbs get fouled with deposits. The solution? Take a weekend, ride the bike, and run 2 - 3 tanks of fresh gas through the machine. The combination of heat/temperature cycling and fresh gas will dissolve almost all of that garbage. Then give it a proper tune-up. And then ride the machine on a more consistent basis or the problem will repeat.

Or you could just bung the carbs in a ultrasonic cleaner.
