J.B. weld them.. I have not done my diff drop yet but when I do that's what I'm going to do.

Nice job, I just did 1” spacer on my 2023 4runner and I was gonna do a diff drop cause I think I’m getting needle bearing vibration but I’m gonna do the ECGS bushing

Those skid plates can be a pain...I know all to well! Finally got my skid plate back on after ordering a new bolt and spacer for the one that was missing.

I live in the rust belt and had to chose btwn dif drop or sacrificing my skid plate bc the bolts were disintegrating. Good ol saw zall got it out and i gotta say ive been driving a year with no dif drop and my cvs are so much happier. Good thing i can weld and ill make a new skid playe eventually 😆🤷🏻‍♂️

Is this really necessary? Internet seem to have a split opinion on this People say it’s bad for your diff to be lowered like that I am planning on doing a lift so trying to figure out what is needed

It keeps the angles closer to factory reducing wear better for anything around 3" and up

Hi thanks for this, my 4runner is 2WD and I plan to lift it, do I need to do this for the rear differential also? Or is this needed for front diffs only?

I have a 2005 v8 4runner i just lifted the front end 2 inches and the drivers cv shaft is actually angled opposite of the one on this fj. It is almost level but slightly angled down drom the wheel hub to the diff. A diff drop would actually make more angle on that shaft. The passenger side sits 1/4" higher and that cv shaft is only slightly angled like yours, higher on diff side and angling down towards hub. Did i just get super lucky or what?

Did you install a diff drop on your Tacoma as well? I'm wondering if the angle on the front drive shaft that goes from the transfer case to the front diff changed at all?

I got a 30.00 eBay supreme diff drop kit for my 4runner. Big mistake!! Bolts to short, plastic spacers for the skid place and only two. Bought the 60.00 toytec worlds of difference had a lot more parts. Dont cheap out even and a simple diff drop kit. Toytec for the sway bar relocation kit too. I’m ashamed of the first cheap one I bought.

Great video, any negative effects after doing the diff drop? Like Vibrations or anything negative afterwards.

You lose an inch of ground clearance under that area, and your fj will look like it has a belly. That is why I am thinking about removing the diff drop kit given that my lift is just under 3 inches.

@@FahadAlkhadim Forgive me if I am incorrect here, but it's true you lose some ground clearance, but now aren't you able to fit larger tires which will increase ground clearance?

@@Elhamonyou21 essentially the bottom of the diff supports are now just as low as the crossmember behind them. Ultimately this will affect your approach angle slightly, so its just something to be aware of when approaching a steep climb or obstacle.

Thanks for the easy, straightforward video! I am going to do this drop, as I just installed a 3” life and slightly larger tires. I am scared to do it because I live in Minnesota and it’s almost guaranteed that one or both of the bolts will break. At least they aren’t threaded into the frame, right?
