@@bobbarker142 For god sake dont! The wax you buy from fjällräven is not made in china from parafin and beeswax at all! Its a special wax with magic powers and abilities. That come from them making it, deep in the forrests of sweden during midsommarafton, by blonde maids dancing around a fire.

The G-1000 fabric and wax works like this: more wax provides more water resistance but the fabric will never become completely waterproof. Smaller amount of wax gives more ventilation. If you want to reduce the amount of wax in the fabric, you simply wash the garment a few times. Hej, The parts of the jacket with G-1000 Eco fabric comes pre-waxed from the factory and are ready for use but after a few washes or after some wear and tear it can be a good thing to re-wax this parts again with one or two thinner layers of wax. +HunterRyngo Hej! You should only treat the G1000 parts, and do it when you need a bit more protection against wind and rain. You can also choose o do it on certain parts where you need extra resistance, like in the bottom and lower part of the legs for example.Kind regards/Anja

Hi Adrian, if you're wanting maximum water resistance, I'd suggest melting 2 or more large blocks in a pot, and consider adding boiled linseed oil, about 1:1. linseed oil sets into a gum and seals the material. Melt the mix and paint on generously with a brush, then melt it into the garment with a hair drier, brushing it further into the seams. When you're satisfied the material is saturated, absorb excess with a rag while continuing to apply heat. Hang the garment to set. the linseed oil will set in about a week or so. The wax will be proof as soon as it's cooled. You can expect a stiff, starched result. We use this method on cotton only. I would expect it to work on poly cotton blends like G1000. I'm not sure if it works on stretchable materials. I haven't done this to any Fjallraven product. @Fjallraven have you tried this method on your products?

@Fjällräven: Hi. Thanks for answer. I think I have made a mistake when I applied the wax. The iron was too hot and I evaporated the wax. For sure, I will try more ... at the end I will be an expert in this technique.

@@antoheadrian I ree waxed my keb pants. I put my iron on steam and held above my pants. The wax disappears. Are you telling me it's not spread and set to my trousers. Or avaparated I'm worried now ha ha as I haven waxed them before. I used the wax block that they show in this video

I treat mine with nikwax cotton proof in the washing machine then very cool iron or tumble dry.. works well for me... The wax however will make the jacket last longer...

Hi, We have not tried to impregnate the material of the hood with a spray, but if you use a flour carbon free spray impregnation please try on a smaller area first to see how it reacts. The only thing that might happen is a "flame" effect on the fabric which might not look so good.

Hi, The Greenland wax is optimized for the G-1000 fabric which is made of cotton/polyester. If you want to try it on other fabrics , try over a smaller area first to see how it reacts.

Yes. I was wearing a waxed garment in the woods once and four bears tracked and found me. They tried to take my food and my meat, we tried to negotiate but the bears were not interested in talking. I put up a good fist fight. It was 4-on-1 all along the river for over two hours. One of the bears betrayed the pack and started a brawl among their group. I fled and hid under a canopy when I saw a rune hidden under a rock. As I touched the rune I felt the strength of Odin surge through me. I emerged from the canopy and without them having any chance to touch me, I defeated all four of the bears. This wax is some serious stuff.

Hi, No, we don´t recommend to wax the Vinylon F fabric on the Kånken. The Kånken No2 in the G-1000 HD is possible to wax.

Hi Ivan! We know our G-1000 products are not waterproof, they are not supposed to be waterproof. Waterproofing a garment always comes with a lack in breathability. So choosing a product you always need to consider waterproof vs breathable. Our G-1000 products breathes well and are really durable.
