the high flow grill really helps for drag racing. but when your going around a track its not heat soaking so much. which its designed for. drag races will heat soak the shit out of it.

My biggest concern is the fuel pump duty %, mine touch 93% tuned by Pepo Besosa Red Start Tuning. What was your experience with it?

It does not pull timing with heat it reduces aircharge. Controlling temperature is easier by boost than just removing timing. Stock tune reduces way more aircharge than prl maps. That’s the reason you had a massive difference in torque between stock and reflash. Also your supposed to drive the car after a flash to allow it to start running fuel trims. The afr will stay locked on 14.7 until you do. A non heat soaked type r will do 280 whp on dyno jet. You can legitimately get 380whp same dyno with bolt ons and 93octane. I made 338whp on hondata 93 map which is within 10hp of prl 93 map. The ignition timing is identical so is fueling of those maps. Only boost is changed. That injen intake pulling air from the engine compartment will only make about 5-10 hp loss. The prl hvi intake is better than injen. Pressure wise 22-25 psi tapering to approx 19-20 psi is what you should see in logs. Boost will vary between runs cause the car doesn’t search for pressure numbers it searches for aircharge reading from MAF sensor. It looks for volume not pressure. It’s a common misconception. A heat soaked type r will go down to about 250whp or less on dynojet. It can go as low as 240. You don’t lose 40whp on prl tune as you can see about a 20 hp loss heat soaked. Custom tune with his setup can easily bump 20whp or more. My Current numbers are unknown but I’m legitimately making more than when I was making 375whp. The target fuel ratios are not like typical turbo car which I figured out after. I made 280 stock then 338 fbo ots map then 375whp custom tune. Now I’m not sure but I know it’s more.

I was about to end the video (early) and comment after you gave the first 93 numbers. I am considering getting into the platform and it seems like 350 wheel is reasonably attainable with tune dp intercooler and intake. Any idea what kind of mile per hour this set up with trap in the quartermile?

It's heatsoaked because of that injen intake that isn't sealed off

That’s not what heat soak is. That only effects initial iat temp and intercooler takes over. Heat soak means the intercooler and piping and engjne reach a high level overall temp. Even with 120 iat from Intake. an I tercooer can easily chop 40 degrees out if it mitigating temp differences. No cold air intake combats heat soak from stand still loaded pulls.

@@jpierr79 heatsoak is just getting hot in general because the heat has no where to go therefore it 'soaks' into things in the engine bay. You think an NA engine can't heatsoak because it doesn't have an intercooler? lol It is both hot air entering the intake and the intercooler being hot. If the air entering the intake is hotter, then the air exiting the intercooler will be hotter, regardless of how good your intercooler is, that's just facts.

I'm pretty sure the heat soaked runs provide the more realistic numbers when driving around on the street on an average spring or summer day. That turbo is hot and the hood will be closed, so you can't expect it to run cool, unless you switch to e85 or it's the middle of winter.

Definitely agree that the heat soaked numbers are a good representation of a real world hot summer day if you are stuck in slow traffic. But one thing about these results. My fan cant move as much air as you get when driving on the street. As long as the car is moving and its not a hot summer day, it wouldn't get as heat soaked because there is a lot more air movement when actually driving

this k20c1 puts out more horsepower than a k20z3 and k20a2 with bolt ons... in order to get high gains like that you have to build up the engine. But not this one, ive seen one with over 400hp after bolt ons and some over 500hp after a turbo upgrade

The major difference is torque, also with big turbos k20c1 are making 600hp reliably

@Sergio its not apples to apples as older k engines have higher compression and cams suited to high rpms, head flow is good for top end but the tumble created by the lower flowing k20c1 head along with direct injection makes a lot more torque from 3500rpm, horses for courses older engines might make higher peak hp with the same boost but the k20c will make more torque

@Sergio 600hp k24 make around 400lb this is making 340 which is impressive for bolt ons and a tune thats all we're saying, yes older k20a2 can make crazy hp stock block with turbo but thats not the point, this car has basic bolt ons and a custom flash, those kind of gains on my old ep3 was the stuff of dreams

Because it's sitting stationary on a dyno. It heats up alot faster than if it was driving on the street with wind blasting it . Plus it's probably alot warmer in that room than it is outside.

So basically a CTR that’s supposed to compete with the Golf R, when tuned, only achieves the same power the GTI makes when tuned, with it’s smaller IS20 turbo. 🤣🤣🤣

Thats a mustang dyno buddy. These CTR make around 370whp with custom tuning, if you add e85 should be closer to 400whp. The is20 choke around 340-350whp but hey easy to drop a is38 and make some more power too
