Thanks for showing us your method man, this is sort of like counterpoint, but mainly focuses on basic harmony lead.

Thanks for the comment, Chardin! I just tried what you asked, but I don't think my result is video-worthy. Even with chords C,G,F or others, the principle remains exactly the same, although sometimes you'll find an urge to add a high C during the F chords. It's as easy as clicking on each note to see if it makes a good melody, then selecting and boosting.

0:05 *turns up volume* 0:55 *has heart attack, turns down volume* 1:15 *turns up volume again* 1:54 *learns to speak French* I like the second method best. I'm not too big on combining melodies to form chords. What I usually do is come up with the chord progression first and center the melody around the tone caused by the chord progression. When I do make the melody first, I concentrate on the notes that give the most power(usually the first note in a continuous series or the highest...

Thank you, Khrene! I discovered it by myself, these days, on my PC! Very useful procedure.

It's from Reaktor 5. It's called "Guitar" as a "Steampipe" instrument.

Thanks, D, I wasn't sure if it was just my speakers. Will correct for next time.

Velocity represents (typically) the strength of a note. However, NOT ALL instruments will be set up to handle velocity in the same way. Velocity could, in some situations control a filter's Freq, or (in most guitars) control the Decay of the signal (so soft notes become palm-mutes) Look for modifiers that say "vel" or "sensitivity" as they typically reflect how much change the velocity will bring to the sound. Values of 0 typically will dismiss velocity and make all notes equal.

It's all about velocity! I have been playing guitar for about 13 years now, and it helps to understand the way the variance in strength in an arpeggio will create more interesting rhythmic structures. Hard to explain in text though. I did some really nice work with this "Guitar" patch (The one in Steampipe) in part 1 of "Murphy's Law Symphony".

@cycla15 жыл бұрын
pads in uplifting trance serve mostly for the feel. in my humble opinion, when you write your melodies, you should have already determined the chord progression, from there is simply deciding how to transit from chord to chord, there are various techniques to do that. why don't you take a look at FLipside?

how did you get the reactor 5 into your fl studio? i'd really appreciate the help...
@AcePincter9 жыл бұрын
Enrique Rodriguez Sadly, I haven't been able to get it to work since FL Version 7, or maybe it was since upgrading to Windows 7. Probably the latter, as Reaktor crashes on opening, now.If you install Reaktor, it should include a VST Plugin, which you can then add to FL Studio's VST Plugins folder, then you add it in by right-clicking a channel and choosing "more".

Possibly. If he reads this, it's "Detect Scale" in the "Helpers" menu under the little wrench icon on the top -left of the Piano Roll window.

cant say this enough to you ppl out there making tutorials about sound. How can u put up a video with such a loud daw, and such a low voice. Cant hear you talk, and when i turn up to hear you, i got blated away cause FL was so loud. Its not hard to limit the shit out of your voice before you put up the video. ;)

+Michael Larsen It's true. This video is about 8 years old and back then I didn't have the equipment necessary to record on a separate channel. I had to do everything live, with multiple takes if I screwed up. It was hard. I wouldn't do that now, but... now I've got some money. It's not like my tutorials ever earned me a dollar. Anyway I hope I helped some.
