About the flag of Ukraine: the blue-yellow flag existed since 1848 in it's modern form, but flags with the same colors were hoisted by the Zaporozhian Cossacks, especially during the Khmelnytsky Uprising of 1648-1649 and, according to some sources, the Late Medieval Kingdom of Ruthenia. The colors were made official by almost all Ukrainian governments during the 1917-1921 Revolution and War of Independence. The Zaporozhian cossacks also used a pinkish maroon color on most of their banners, which created the pink color in that proposal. IDK where the purple one came from, though.

@@Kr-nv5foNo. Definetely no. Our people and politicians mostly don't even know about the fact, that Crimea was in Byzantine and Roman Empires. It's definetely Zaporizhia and Cossack theme. Pink used in a lot of flags which is somehow relate to Ukraine. So I believe the Byzantine origin is very unlikely

As a Ukrainian myself, I honestly had no idea about these proposals lol. That one with a pink strip kinda reminds of the flag of Don Cossacks, and the color also symbolizes Kuban Cossacks, whose land was often called as The Raspberry Klyn. But I can't find any explanation of the one with purple, maybe they just wanted to flex it, idk. In general, changing the Ukrainian flag is a really dumb idea, simply because the current one is well known and understandable: the blue sky and the golden field of grain. There's just no any valuable reason why we should change it for something else and I am really glad they didn't mess this up

Just to clarify, the Taiwanese flag with the red border was not supposed to be an official country flag, it was however used as the Chinese war flag during the 2nd Sino Japanese war, they chose those colors for a reason as during the time, the Chinese communist forces and the Nationalists were working together to fight the Japanese, the red representing the Communists and the blue and white star representing the KMT (Kuomintang).

That's not really true lol, if you mean the one with red border where it's literally the current flag but move the white sun blue flag to the middle, eventually it becomes Taiwan ROC army flag. Kmt and communist party never have an official flag together. Also the taiwan green flag while it's the most popular to resemble Taiwanese independence, it also been criticized for being to similar to DPP party flag, the party that also supports taiwanese independence. Because kinda hypocrisy when many dpp people criticize current taiwan flag having the white sun blue flag, which is the kmt flag btw. But then they also design a flag that's no different that dpp flag... Yeah.

It’s Ukraine’s technical borders after Russian claim to the eastern territories. I don’t know why it surprises people to see a country get invaded and its borders change from the invasion. However the war isn’t over so drew should’ve used a different map.

About the Chinese flag that looks like the US, the founder of the ROC, Sun Yat-sen, was actually born in Honolulu, America and studied in America. In fact, the Democratic part of his Three Principles was derived from his experience studying the American governmental system and wanted something similar for his new Republic.
