THAT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY SICK! A train with such a good idea

After 5 years in development, hopefully it will be worth the wait. Props to the art team, as always.

Better translation of Dialogue in the beginning: Z: "Long time no see, beard (referring to Crazy Dave), scrap metal (referring to Penny), oh, and you! (referring to the player)" The rest two zomboss lines was translated correctly D: "He's the zombachamacallit... oh yeah zombmaster (a pun on zomboss having a PhD but calling it a master degree) P: "Oh dave, I have to remind you, he's called Doctor zomboss." P: "Maybe we should use a stopwatch to time how long he lasts." So the Steam Age Zomboss comes out. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but why did it take 5 years? The thing is, this boss was in development hell for the past years. At first they wanted to make a unique zomboss type, but popcap shanghai, who was still supervising them at the time, said no, and after a while, the boss just can't be finished on time, causing it to be missing. After that, Talkweb continued to make more designs including several cyclops one, but popcap(the international one) didn't allow the design to pass. This design for the zomboss was only approved recently. You can even see that the carts were remade from icecream truck (the one from kid's day) because it has the same text when you try to plant on it. Still, it was great that this finally came out, as a part of the newest 10th anniversary update. Let's wish that it will be better in the future (btw the Chinese players are rioting about the magic bean event, you might want to mention that if you ever want to make a video on the 10th anniversary update.

Gotta love how the coal doesn't glow white when hit like everything else in the game. It has a shit ton of health, no visual indicator of damage, and no degrades. Lovely.

I wonder if this boss will appear in the Reflourished mod. I hope it does since its design is epic and the little train robots are cool (even if they are a bit OP).

they definitely worked this coal train Zombot off of the Wild West Zombot with the wheels, but the amount of detail and differences is so much that the former part isnt even an issue.

I only just realized that the health bar is not properly aligned to what was displayed in the meter, making it a bit misleading that it still has a big chunk of his health remaining.

Finally the highly buggy world gets a boss fight

Here are some suggestions of how the Zombot Terror Train (my fan name) could be balanced: 1. The coals could have less health. 2. The little train minions could be defeated upon contact with a plant and don't have an AOE explosion (kinda like Rodeo Legend Zombie). 3. He doesn't jump around as much so not much free damage can be done. 4. The little trains don't have a huge health pool like the coals and can be destroyed if the plants are strong enough (if it's possible). 5. Missiles remain the same so no changes. 6. Overpowered plants (levels included) should be locked out so cheesing the boss isn't possible or there won't be a challenge at all (could also apply to other boss battles as well). 7. This one may not be for balancing but could be a good mechanic to add. Zomboss blows the train whistle before charging straight forward but to balance it out, you will be given more plant food to counter it. If not, use an instant-use plant. That's all of my suggestions for how to balance this boss. If anyone has better suggestions, feel free to comment below.

Love how this boss is mostly easy with all the jumping and plant selection but one of his attacks is "I delete your entire lawn"

Maybe next year or two we will have Zomboss for Heian and Renaissance Age, considering it took them 5 years for Steam Ages... I don't know if Fairytale Forest is gonna get a Zomboss fight or not since it's a part of Secret Realms, but Memory Lane did have the Zomboss from PvZ 1 so we can hope.

Loved it when Zomboss said "Choo choo motherfucker" and sent 5 Mini-trains at the start of phase 3. Truly the greatest train moment ever.

Wow they gave the plants roles already. By what I meant is that they have those bows and positive sign symbols at the top left of their seed packets.

The day that no one ever expected to happen

Here's an idea, Steam Ages Zomboss would shoot less missiles, 2 on phase one, 3 on phase two, and 4 on phase three. Each missile would create a 3x3 area or cross of steam, (thus incentiving the use of the world's plants.) He shoots fewer coals with lower health, and when he spawns little trains they will act as normal (less damage though) until they touch a hot coal, causing them to explode in a 3x3 area or cross. If they don't touch coal, they will reach the end of the lawn and harmlessly crumble. There would also be manholes for zombie travel around the middle of the 2nd and 4th rows, with two or three tilles between the entrance and exit, breaking up the lawn and creating another area to defend. I think these would be interesting and unique additions to the fight that properly use the plants and gimmicks of the world.

I just got a brilliant idea for a bossfight. All of the lawn is just minecarts. You have 1000 sun. No sun producers. The boss sends out attacks like the minecart missiles from wild west and the little trains(but they dont explode in the end). The goal is to beat the boss while preserving as many plants as possible. We could slap a "dont lose more than 5 plants" on top of it, but i dont think we need it with the amount of sun.

...the Mini-trains should just explode at the first plant they hit... The only reason that they don't turn the fight into an unfair curb-stomp in Zomboss' favor is because that's his strongest trick by five orders of magnitude. His other tricks are not nearly as game-ruining.
