The Flair Classic can make amazing coffee. I've had mine for 3 years and have found the following helpful: - buy high quality, fresh coffee beans (most important) - always use the bottomless portafilter as it gives more feedback about whether you have got the grind right - if you don't have a fancy dispersion tool use a cocktail stick, it works fine - as you say, always heat the cylinder - if you like a strong coffee you can brew shots using 18g of coffee. If you are using 18g keep the funnel in place and tamp through it. This prevent the coffee grinds spilling all over the place.

Always best with those red silicone or rubber rings is to use two fingers (thumb and index finger) on each side, and slide towards you. By doing this the red rings form a half oval. It'll pop out but enough to put your finger in it.

Mine just came in and I can't wait to use it... but I'll have to because I bought a grinder separately and it got somewhat lost in shipping. I was rather confused that it didn't come with a printed manual at first but I'm glad there's a simple video tutorial available.

if you're not already in the Brew With Flair group on Facebook, we highly suggest you join and do some searching through for recommended grinders, puck prep techniques and parameters to target. what you read on the internet about proper shot times for espresso in general will do more harm than good. best extractions are typically in the 40 second range with the Classic. also watch one or more of the hour long classes found here: kzfaq.info/sun/PL56JCAfwBiWjHdMdPzdhWmZpaiPJ1Z4R5

Water off boil will key you play with pre-infusion and blooms. Be sure to preheat with steam, not fill & dump alternatives to be sure you're starting with enough heat in the material

Great video and thank you very much for your guides! :) Unfortunately, I wasn´t able to produce a single shot yet :( Always an extremely harsh after taste. Basically, the shots always taste almost identical independent of the grind size :( I suggest I have significant channeling but can´t figure out what the actual problem is nor how to solve it. Any suggestion is appreciated.

bit.ly/BrewWithFlair but first go to a local specialty cafe, havs them pull a shot from what's on bar that they can sell you a bag of, then assuming you liked it, but the bag and go home and try your usual method of brewing, then Google "espresso compass" and use that to make the appropriate charges for the next shot. 🤙

Got it today and I am a bit confused about the amount of coffee to use. I tried 15 grams first, but that is pretty much undrinkable. Around 8 grams seems more reasonable. I am using a Sage Smart Grinder Pro and tried different settings. A press takes me between 25 to 30 seconds with almost no water left at the end. What did surprise me is the little force i had to use. How much weight exactly should be used to achieve a 25 second brew? I sure use way less than the 30 pounds mentioned in this video. I tried to tamper harder, but that didnt seem to change that either. Even my girlfriend who drinks pretty hardcore coffee says that the 15 grams are totally undrinkable. So is this normal? I mean i can't add more water to the brew, or is the 15grams meant for an Americano?

Just finished watching the buyer's guide and The Classic caught my interest. I have been interested in espresso lately and been leaning towards the flair espresso rather than buying an espresso machine, I am a beginner and I think I would like to use classic rather than the neo because of its upgradability. After watching this I have almost decided to buy The Classic in the near future or do you have any recommendation for a beginner getting into espresso? Thanks Andrew!

I’d like to throw in my two cents that I went with the classic over an espresso machine as my entry into the espresso world and it’s absolutely the best decision I’ve made. After some research, it became clear that most machines under $300-$400 were bound to break down, need maintenance, etc and the espresso quality would be.....passable so I went with the flair. It’s so easy and the espresso quality is honestly really really good. My one drawback is all the little parts are a little “fiddily” and the workflow is a little fumbly but it’s a small price to pay for really good espresso. I highly recommend it!!

@KuraiCross
@KuraiCross 14 күн бұрын
I know you asked this several months ago, but the fresher your beans are, the more creama you will have. This is why you should always freshly grind your beans and try to get beans that were roasted about 30 days ago. Good coffee will have the roast date on it.

I love flair products, but saying it is easier to preheat by placing it on a extremely rare shaped kettle is an absolute joke for a general brewing guide. You know it is one of the downsides of the flair line of products but embrace it and counter with its benefits and give an actual real-world example instead of some BS marketing response.
@FlairEspresso
@FlairEspresso 3 жыл бұрын
thanks for your feedback. we feel compelled to point out that this is no "rare shaped kettle" in the sense of what we need for this hack: a removable lid. You can find stove top with removable lids for $20 at your favorite retailer, and you probably already have something in your cupboard as we point out at 00:39 that you can use in place of the lid to act as a a basket. in the manual, which is free for download from our site, you will note we provide the most readily available solution: a cup or bowl. that said, we're finding more and more people are enjoying specialty coffee (read: lighter roasted coffee). These less soluble coffees require more heat to extract all that is good, and that is why we are pivoting in our online content to demonstrate a solution that will work best for these coffees. perhaps we should instead have demonstrated the preheat cap that is a separate purchase, push another sale and try to make some profit through these videos rather than advise on the best, most eco-friendly solution.

I have a cheap Oster kettle, and can perch the screen and brewing head on top (with the lid open) without anything extra. A relative of mine has a different Kitchenaid kettle, and can do the exact same thing. Most kettles have some kind of internal ledge where the spout comes out where you can easily prop the Flair brewing head to preheat. Another thing I’ve used with great success is a flat metal cheese grater placed over the top of the open kettle. The holes allow the steam to come through, and you can place anything you want to preheat on top of the cheese grater.
