Just found your channel...great info! Our sail never looks as good as yours when we 'attempt' to flake it but we'll get it. Thanks!

as usual very clear and concise instruction. the only unrealistic issue here is that you're not flaking a sail at a anchorage. you're often doing it in open water under power, in some possibly mild chop and wind. definitely makes it a bit more interesting;)

What a great instruction video. I'm new to this and today was quite frustrated. When I go up again to sail, I will definitely use this method and do it right! Thank you.

Very nice, thank you a lot. Got an older boat with a very tight boom cover, and I cant seem to zip it up. My technique has been terrible, but you learn and adapt to grow with your problems. Very good explanation!

I like using ball bungies instead of sail ties. You can use the sail ties if you want once you're tidying things back up at the slip, but the ball bungies are a great way to secure a sail really quickly and easily, without the concern of a traditional bungie cord with hooks damaging the sail material.

Can't say I agree. I have heard of them flicking back and hitting the person flaking the sail in the eye.

thanks for posting this video, but it looks there is barely any wind and that the lazy jacks really help contain the sail. what would be really helpful to me is to see how to flake a mainsail solo with no lazy jacks when it's windy. Even if I'm in irons i still have a heck of a time flaking it solo

I'm excited by how you combined a standard sailcover with the lazy jacks. Not that common. Did you make the necessary flaps in the cover by yourself ?

They are a little complicated with velcro closures. A lot al sailmaker did the work for under $100.

Sad to say but in real windy condition this beauty will not work. In that case usage of big (5"-8") clamps to hold folds until you tie the pack will be helpful. simplifies

Wrong first put sail ties in forward position .in a wind first put your sail ties in before fiddling with boom position.anything else your sail will end up in a mess on the cabin top
@SailFanatics
@SailFanatics 3 жыл бұрын
Larry, Not having the mainsail fall on the cabintop is the benefit of the lazy jack system. With the sail dropped into the lazy jacks and the halyard removed, its not going anywhere in a breeze.. If you dont start the mainsail flaking from aft ad go forward, you cannot remove the folds and creases in the sail and it wont lay flat.
