With the threat of severe weather all around them the family is keeping a close eye on the skies. Mother Nature decides to put on quite a show with, thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rains with a potential for flash flooding.

Purple is usually heavy heavy rain pink on the radar is hail and the darker the color the heavier the precipt on the radar

A few years ago, I was in Atlanta, GA with my father on one of his business trips (I was just tagging along). We stayed at a great hotel in downtown Atlanta. One day, we got struck by one of those famous thunderstorms that they get in the southeast and, let me tell you, it was INTENSE!! The apartment, yes apartment, that we stayed in was on one of the higher floors in the building so we had a Birdseye view of the storm coming in over downtown Atlanta. It was amazing!! It was like a wall of clouds rolling in. I do love thunderstorms!!

Scary weather! Glad you're safe! I live in north central PA, so this kind of storm is rare for us. I'm a weather buff, so I like them, but not dangerous stuff!

as a weather geek,Purple on regular storm maps is hail,but Purple on a map of *all* precipitation is usually a mix of rain and snow

When It’s Humid Outside, There’s Always A Chance For Tornadoes and/or Severe Weather. ESPECIALLY In Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. This Also Applies To The South Because We Are In Tornado Alley Ourselves. Never The Less, All 50 States Have Seen Tornadoes; So Includes Hawaii & Alaska! Can’t You Believe It? Purple on REFLECTIVITY is high dbz return (hail/rain) the purple on VELOCITY is a range folding issue (the radar can't determine the actual wind direction)

Yeah, i was watching that...i live almost 4 hours to the north of there, and i knew Eastern Iowa was expected to get slammed, so being the weather freak i am, paid attention to all of that...of course, we didn't get anything up here, but severe weather has always been something i've been interested in since i was about 6-7 years old. Glad y'all are fine.

I was scared then I when to my parents then a big lightning strike scared me the most then the lights when out I turn on the switch then the lights where compleatly out then the aftermath everything was okay but the trees where down power was out then I went to the deep run park with my dad I saw big trees block the road. We didn't had power for 2 weeks and I will never forget that terrorfying day

Where i live we get severe wind storms and a few years ago i live in Australia and we had a severe thunderstorm and we traded with goldmans an Australian shop for our roof and our roof for there sign OMG THANKS FOR THE HART

We have never had any tornado s here in West Allis except for one that hit like 2 blocks from where I used to live age 19 in 1975 but get the watches and the warnings but Lake Michagan it blows over and goes elswhere but get sevre thunderstorms though !

Still bingeing :) I just noticed ( I've watching this idk how many times and never noticed) but my area was in a red box at 4:34. I have no idea how I missed that! 😂😂😂 What did that mean? Was it because we had touchdowns? I still remember this day well though, it was a really nice day but hot, and it was like 3 or 4 and could start to see the clouds coming in from the west and they were really dark. It came sooo fast and I told my mom about it and my brother was out driving in it. She was worried about him and my grandma called to ask where he was. Devin came in and we were downstairs and once in a while would look outside to see what it was doing. It was also really really windy
