Flash floods cause havoc in Europe

Severe flooding has caused devastation in Germany and Belgium, where the death toll has risen to more than 120 as emergency services continued their search for many hundreds more still missing. No loss of life has been reported in Switzerland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, but flash floods swept through the Swiss villages of Schleitheim and Beggingen, several towns in the Grand Duchy were evacuated and thousands were told to leave their homes in the southern Dutch city of Maastricht

Thank you very much for the condolences and wishes. It's really appreciated, since I live near to one of the affected areas in germany. Many people are rebuilding and cleaning their houses, basements and getting rid of debree in their gardens. Streets have been partially torn to shreds. My condolences also go to the victims of the floods

@@jgmdewilde8078 yep and aeroplanes make HUGE amounts of pollution right up there in the sky very close to the ozone. I went to an airshow about two years ago and I couldn’t believe the amount of pollution coming out of those jet engines! Unbelievable. One plane ran on kerosene and the plumes and stench coming out of that thing was making my eyes sting. And the F18 jets were not only noisy but the massive trail of stinky plume behind it was insane! So yes aeroplanes DO create massive amounts of pollution. Since that airshow I think of air travel very differently now.

It seems like the planet is blindly working to restore balance. In fact, these are things we have done to ourselves. Our numbers may have been sustainable if we had learned to walk softly on the earth. I fear, from now on, it's going to be one surprise catastrophe after another until we are trimmed back and able to have a unified understanding about our place in the great scheme of things. Flooding, in itself, won't reduce us much. Squeezing up, together, on smaller pieces of habitable land is going to be when we really feel the scythe.
