Flash floods & mudslides damage hundreds of hectares of paddy fields in Zhavame in Phek district Nagaland
Zhavame(Phek), July 2: Flash floods and mudslides hit Zhavame village in Phek district, Nagaland on July 1 damaging hundreds of hectares of paddy fields which were transplanted recently and affecting more than 40 households.
The unfortunate natural calamities happened due to the incessant rain followed by the overflow of river water damaging paddy fields and its surrounding extensively on July 1, according to the press release issued by Zao Krocha, Chairman of Zhavame Village Council and its Secretary Lucas Dukru.
The village council on behalf of the farmers of Zhavame Village urged upon the government of Nagaland, department to survey the damages and extend assistance to the affected farmers at the earliest as possible.
The NSDMA, Home Department of Nagaland has issued an alert that; due to the incessant rain, there is an anticipation of landslides, flash floods, damage to roads, public infrastructure, agriculture crops etc. Therefore, citizens are advised to stay alert and exercise caution.
