Yeah. For real, I often forget that CW Flash is also a CSI because he doesn't really act like he knows the stuff that a CSI should know.

I get what your saying but personally I don’t mind. He doesn’t have to measure up to his comic book self to be an enjoyable character. Plus it would be far more difficult for live action to have realistic conflicts if he was his comic book self, as live action tends to have more realistic and grounded stories. I do dislike though when the plot purposely makes Barry look weaker or less smarter at times to create conflicts, but I’ve grown to accept the flaws and still enjoy the show

No. But this is an hour long show so we get the usual speedster who's faster than barry, or the villain turned a corner and Barry can't catch him. Its not just the flash. Lots of movies do this too. Quicksilver either couldn't stay to help or had to get his leg broken or put in a coma. But suspension of disbelief is needed for these kinds of things.

If something illogical has to happen for the script to move forward, it's bad writing. Someone being faster than Barry... Good reason. Barry leg is broke... Good reason. Barry lost a fight to a non-meta with a gun? Illogical. Barry doesn't use his Speed to fight? Illogical. Better yet... Barry lost a fight to a non-meta at the beginning of the episode because he was fighting at regular human speed, that creates "conflict", then won the fight later that episode because he used his speed. *ILLOGICAL* Even when he has a good reason not to instantly win in a situation, the reason he usually in that predicament is usually illogical. Like I said, incompetent writers. I shouldn't have to dumb myself down to enjoy a show with inconsistencies. Ima just call it bad.

@@rightssupremacist8102 I don't know. I mean the first three speedsters in the first three seasons rose to a ridiculous degree. Reverse flash was fine because Barry was still learning. Made sense he would get his ass kicked. Zoom rolled in, juiced up on speed steroids, but by Savitar they overdid him so much they just had to nerf him and use the excuse he was fast because he was trapped in the speedforce because Barry wasn't getting faster, Wally was.

Sadly for the writers/producers that means no Team Flash dynamic which by now is unnecessary.

He was so smart in the first episode. But he needed to be the body more than the brain, apparently.

He still has it when the ASF gets rebooted and the speed force gets reborn, he uses it in season 8 when battling the Royal Flush Gang

The show fell apart. It's evident they didn't have a clear direction, it seemed to be more of a 'let's see what sticks' type of show. It's why I stopped watching it.

They seemed to be implying that this was the speed barry thought at while running but now he's able to do it while standing still (if you ignore the superspeed to use the dry wipe boards)

The difference is the active and “passive” thinking… so before he could think fast when he is using his power, but it is not really the same, as he is still think like a human would. One way to look at it, when he is in his super-speed mode, everything seems to slow down for him and he just simply has more time to think when everyone else is in slow motion (if that makes any sense). But with this new ability, his thinking becomes passive, like he no longer needs to think anymore, there is no “thinking” happen, his brain just passively calculate all the possible outcomes for whatever current scenario he is in and everything is already like a big archive of results in his brain, and this archive is constantly updating live 24/7

It's not the same thing I think. When he's in the flash time the time slows down for him as a whole. Like, imagine if you were in the flash time, does it mean that you would wait in there until you develop a new mathematical formula without being bored? That is the difference. When Barry thinks fast he doesn't think in normal time from his perspective.

Yeah, Grant is a good Barry Allen. Sadly, the writers don't know what they're doing and ruin the show. And because the writers are bad, Grant gets underrated as an actor. But he isn't the problem.

If u never watched that show I suggest you do until like S5. S6-7 are alright but nowhere near as good as the first 5 and S8-9 are just straight up the most random scenes and storyline its terrible.

Well I think Barry always had some level of speed thinking but it was never amplified to this degree. He’s able to read and memorize books in seconds as well as shuffle and change his thoughts at super speed like he did against the Royal Flush Gang in Season 8.

@@VXception pff, I myself have always commented this in discussions about speedsters, but somehow people fail to grasp this concept. Even on this video, I just made a lengthy comment about it. This (superfast thinking) is literally a MUST for any person with superspeed. Otherwise you can't perceive and react in time to obstacles in your path and you bump into everything. It's like driving a car that goes at 100.000 mph through an obstacle course that has obstacles at every 50 feet. Do I even need to do the math and tell you how many times per second you would have to steer the wheel in order to avoid the obstacles ? I won't even bother this time, I'm just telling you the result: a normal human brain doesn't even get close being able to see everything in time, let alone make the decision to avoid the obstacles, let alone convey that information in time to the hands. The second thing that bothers me about this scene is ... what does superfast thinking have to do with seeing behind your back, or predicting the future ? How does that work, exactly ? And don't even get me started on the Quantum Ball ... here let my paste it from my other comment: Quantum events are by definition unpredictable, because the outcome is decided only when the wavefunction collapses. I suspect the only way you could somewhat "predict" them is if you literally travel back in time - and even with this method.. I'm not too sure it will work, because the outcome may be random on each attempt, so even if you experience outcome "A" on the first timeline and then go back in time.. you may experience a different outcome the second time around. So it may be physically impossible UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES to "predict" a quantum event.

Yes and no, he's not using farsight or clairvoyancy but one of the aspects of his speed thinking allows him to develop simulations for an event to occur. For example in this scene he can tell the direction of the seemingly random movement of the quantum ball ( trademark pending ) by calculations to determine trajectory etc given the surroundings ( the room they're in) and thus determine where it will go, so basically pattern recognition or predictions by calculations given existing values. That's one of the ways he can tell what's going to happen. But there's more science behind it that you can do research on, it's similar to how certain aspects of AI work to compare to an understandable reference. But yes, ideally when Barry achieved a level of control of his optimum speed and here on after he should have been able to keep his super thinking but the direction the writing took limited that for whatever reasons the writers decided on. The comics also demonstrate better how his speed works on a whole and with regards to your last point, his body and mind indeed face challenges with respect to his environment for example although it's not the same thing as this but a similar example is that Barry moves so fast that perception-wise everything seems slower to him, ( this was demonstrated in earlier season for example when he catches bullets or a catches a cup that someone drops ) so something like even talking to people who are non speedsters is practically torture for him and it doesn't really go away when you think about but people just ignore it in the moment or accept that it's happening and continue with the story.

His perception of things around him is different to having precognition

His Flash time ability just allows him extra time to think, but super speed thinking is basically precognition as he's seeing the future

His perceptions also shift, he can only stay in super speed for so long. An example of this is the "Enter Flashtime" episode from Season 4.
