I second that entirely, thank you so much for an excellent video. I love Sontag's work, specifically on her work on Camp & discussions on Photography, and her perhaps, ironic & aloof introspection on Queerness. At times, I take 6 months - 1 year breaks on social media, as a cleanse - particulary, thinking of the economy and the gluttonous consumption of images, and of the digital in particular - to reconnect, in different sense - with the world in front of me, around me, around. As a hairstylist-cum-sculptor, I've decided to move forward after some infamous obscurity exhibiting in museums and with gallery representation - to withhold new work for release on social media - as a means, of creating a healthy amount of friction (as well, greater sustainability in practice of producing) for the consumer, in digesting my work. As the process, is very tedious and at times painstakingly so. I wonder if you both, would agree with this notion and strategy ? Not to mention, I am learning 4x5 large format as a part of this long-time desire of equal capturing and developing of the image in post, as in the production of my hair braid textile sculptures. Thanks! she dated Leibovitz very late in her life, and if they married, this is news to me. Her interest in photography started when she was a teenager, decades prior. I would argue that Leibovitz learned more about the medium from Sontag than the other way around. At least her (Leibovitz's) pictures of Sarajevo were taken after Sontag convinced her to grab her fuji 6x9 and shoot some black and white documentary photographs. Thanks for watching!
