That's where the usual "I dress like a bat to put fear into the heart of my enemies" starts to make real sense. Batman is supposed to be an horror story, almost an urban legend, criminals tell to scare each other, something they can't even believe in until they see him with their own eyes. If I was a criminal and I see that shit coming after me and survive, I would shit my pants and never commit any crime after that.

All these years later and we were robbed of this Batman. Snyder and Affleck were totally vibin on this portrayal of an older, darker Batman who survived horrors and watched others like him turn bad or die horribly, looking for hope but beginning to get clouded by rage. This shouldve been the theatrical cut, and we shouldve gotten the Affleck directed, Snyder produced Batman solo film.

If you’re smart enough to give me a lecture on Greek mythology, I’m sure you’re smart enough to understand so I’ll explain. He praised the film’s portrayal of Batman as an unusually intimidating force befitting that of the supernatural horror genre instead of a traditionally heroic portrayal. That description fits only two scenes in the Ultimate Edition and only one in the theatrical cut. That one common scene is Batman’s introduction. He’s comparing Batman’s introduction here to the ones he remembers seeing. It’s a *good* thing. Go easy on people who *don’t* pick fights, will ya? @@kevklash I disagree. Batman doesn't want to be looked at as a hero (technically, I would say none of the heroes do seeing as they continue their work even during times the various governments and societies don't want them to) but he shouldn't be portrayed this way. Ruthless. Merciless. Horrifying. Devilish. Demonic. Who would feel safe under Batman's surveillance? Why would Commissioner Gordon help a borderline psychopath? He's just cruel. The women being terrified of him is not cool nor is that how they should feel knowing Batman saved them. Look, people needs to start taking things with maturity and stop trying to change other people mind and opinions. You got your opinion, I got mine. Mine will not change, yours will not either, but let's also talk facts. DC is a multiverse, and there are plenty of versions of Batman being sick of fighting crime after loosing people he loved(does it sound familiar to you?). He started acting like this after that. This is a great take on the character, no matter how hard you or other people try to deny it, lots of people are raving because we will finally get to see the continuation of this in ZS Justice League.

@@kevklash I'm not trying to change your opinion just because I disagree lol. Also, I have read many Batman comics. I'm doing so right now and I learn anything - literally ANYTHING - new about Batman I can. And, in A Death In The Family, when Jason Todd dies, Batman does actually try to kill Joker and would've if not for Superman's self interjection. But, in A Lonely Place Of Dying, Batman starts to push people away and also turns to technically self harm himself as punishment for losing Jason. *This* is what Batman would do after losing people he loved. He didn't brand anyone. He still kept on superheroing. Because Batman hates himself and so he attacks himself whenever he finds an error or fails or whatever. But he would never give up on people, especially the people of *Gotham City.* This is just a poor portrayal of a hurting Batman in my opinion. That's all I wanted to say.

And this scene is no different, it’s been done to death at this point to where I have no desire to watch another take on Batman. Say what you want about Phase 4, but you can’t deny that it has done a great job at introducing new characters like Namor, Man-Thing, America Chavez, U.S Agent, Sylvie, other Loki variants, Ms. Marvel, Yelena, Kate Bishop, Ironheart, Moon Knight, Shang-Chi (my boi), and the list goes on. Meanwhile, DC and WB is still over saturating Batman ignoring their other characters.

Simple, because as cool as it is, Batman doesn't kill people. It completely undermines why he is Batman to begin with. Batman would never want to leave a child feeling alone like he does, which is exactly what he would do if he went around killing people, hence the reason he does not kill, because he would just become Joe Chill to someone else.

People seem to forget that Batman has been at this for 20 years. He’s lost a Robin, watched criminals go to prison and come back doing the same thing and now there’s a god-like figure one city over. Him branding criminals, definitely murdering people, and being hell bent on killing Superman was part of his arc of returning to why he became Batman in the first place. CinemaWins goes into more depth on what his arc is (highly recommend that channel) Edit: Not to mention witnessing the destruction of a large chunk of a city in what amounted to a fist fight between two gods among mortals

@Jayden Olson I don't know if it was ever stated directly, but going by the comics and the fact that Nightwing and Oracle don't exist (at the moment), Jason is most likely the one who died. Film theory actually has. a video theorizing that the Joker in _Suicide Squad_ isn't actually *the* Joker, but a tortured, broken and mentally deranged Jason Todd who was captured by the actual Joker and Harley Quinn
@moviehermit5631
@moviehermit5631 4 жыл бұрын
@Jayden Olson Same here, although it would be difficult to top the animated movie that came out years ago. I have heard there's a soft reboot of Suicide squad happening (maybe it was in the form of _Birds of Prey)_ and that might allow for Red Hood to make an appearance. Now that I think about it, Batman was turning into Red Hood throughout the movie. He was willing to kill, being excessively brutal, even fine with going up against a god among men on the chance that he could destroy the world if he snapped
@moviehermit5631
@moviehermit5631 4 жыл бұрын
@Jayden Olson Agreed. Although I wish they cut back on him making jokes, along with having more of a presence around the other members that put hm on equal footing regardless of his lack of powers (e.g. _"do_ you talk to fish?") Hopefully if we do see Red hood, they delve into his feelings of betrayal and seeing how throwing criminals in jail isn't enough. There could be an awesome scene where Bruce can sympathize and understand that perspective. He could reflect on his past actions to try and help Jason come back home. It would almost be like Bruce seeing a reflection of what he was in BvS, and try to truly make up for what happened to Jason as well as all he did in his rampage on crime.

Batman in the movies has always been a guy who has been *stated* to strike fear into the hearts of the criminals in the city and is believed to be a supernatural entity . This is the first movie where you actually get to see that and get a sense of how intimidating Batman is . This is the first film where Batman's introductory scene is entirely by the POV of the naive police officer . We are just as clueless as he is and the camerawork is so effective that we seem to be following him along and as Batman is above him , we feel terrified for him and realize how powerless he is . He almost seems like a vampire from the office's perspective . He climbs across the wall and runs away faster than the blink of an eye and genuinely feels supernatural . Say whatever you wan to about Zack Snyder , but as a DCEU and MCU fan both , he easily has the best cinematography and the most distinct visual flairs . This is easily the most memorable introduction of Batman in a film besides perhaps Nolan's in Batman Begins but for entirely different reasons . We saw his intro in Batman Begins from his perspective and so appeared heroic but from the perspective of criminals and even police officers , he is a monster .

People hate on Snyder, but his scenes are straight off comic book visuals. It’s debatable that he brings more form than substance to the table, but what his movies lack in one thing definitely makes up for it in the other. @Jayden Olson but BvS wasn't a "flop" precisely. Sure, it didn't make the big bucks it should have, and it was torn apart by a large number of critics and "fans". But it still managed to make a pretty decent sum. This movie is nowhere near perfect but it sure as hell isn't the piece of crap some point it out to be. Most of it was jumping on the bandwagon. People can talk all the smack they want about BvS, but the soundtrack, visuals, fight coreography (my god, that holy warehouse fight scene) and particularly Ben Affleck's performance kicked ass.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the football game? Great worldbuilding, characterizes the two cities involved, and shows how Bruce feels about Superman-just as Gotham City got blown out (and salt rubbed in the wound) by a superior force, Gotham fights back. It’s unironically one of my favorite parts of the movie.

They could have if they took a leaf out of the animated works book and slap Dark at the end of it so everyone knows its a DC Universe where you can expect Batman to get raped in prison, brand people, and kill. That way people aren't surprised. It sort of tears you away when you expect your childhood fantasy of Justice League coming to the big screen but get such a dark and gritty portrayal of characters you wanna love. Snyder would have been perfect for a Justice League Dark franchise. Not this one.

@@rizzocreates1095 The intro to Reeves Batman was great but it didnt sell me the bit about him "being the shadows". It was badass but even the gang members thought he was just an asshole in a costume initially. Whereas in this movie the cops, traffickers and the victims thought batman was a goddamn demon and not just a very skilled man using technology and theatrics cleverly to appear more than human.
@magicavocadoproductions
@magicavocadoproductions 2 жыл бұрын
@@revolverocelot1380 I agree. Though how i see it, since rob's batman is in his 2nd year of the dark knight, and maybe a younger Bruce, I can kinda get an understanding he's not quite at that point of being a Terrifying hero to everyone. Like you said, I think some see him more as some vigilante freak than a nightmare. He strikes fear to the lower level bad guys at least. Which is still badass for that intro. But batfleck, I think since it's focused more on a stealth and fast but menacing Bruce with more knowledge on advanced technology, it seems he knows what to do and has more experience in agility/combat. Safe to say anyone near him is pretty much screwed. But at the end of the day both the director and actor did a great job portraying batman. Matt reeves showing more of batman's detective side, with Robert's acting showing a Batman who's still not used to being a Wayne, and questioning his morality between hope and fear, fighting more brutally. As for Zack Snyder and Ben giving a more terrifying depiction of batman, him literally in the shadows hanging on the wall like a bat, striking fear not only on criminals but the law as well. This batman is able to move out fast and fight his way out strategically. (Also apologies if my English was iffy)

I was becoming a bigger fan of Batman at the time, and still to this day, everything with Batman is the GREATEST parts of this movie. It's a real shame that Ben won't be playing the role anymore, but because of this performance, I'm more than willing to give Robert Pattinson a chance, wait to see what the actors do before I judge.

Batfleck had lost two families and spent 20 years of shitty nights in Gotham fighting against maybe almost every famous Batman villain. That's why he was broken from inside and so, he even broke one of his most important rules. People should remember one thing that whenever you watch a movie, you should keep your focus on dialogues and screen to understand the film well enough. They should watch BvS [Ultimate Edition] and focus on dialogues of Batfleck and Alfred.

This scene is so good at portraying what Bruce Wayne set out to be when he donned the cowl. He embodies his fear and strikes it into the hearts of criminals and does so so well that even the women he saved are scared of him. He wanted to be a symbol of Gotham, hence the branding. And his whole demeanor is so inhuman it looks absolutely terrifying and demon like that it’s perfect. The agile yet aggressive movement, the way he poises himself and hides in the darkened. It’s just great. Too bad Affleck won’t be returning

I love Robert as Batman but dude…. I ADOREEE THE SHIT of the idea of Batman being a legit horror villian. Ofc not villian but as in, even the cops and the people he saves r scared of him. I like heroic shit but the thought of vigilantes legit doing brutal shit to criminals and leaving a hell of an impression to the people that he helps, I just think that’s badass as shit. Plus the way he was moving like a bat when the cop shot at him, Lowk disturbed me alittle. Another fun fact, this kinda reminds me of Gotham 1919. Which is a great depiction of Batman and his rogue gallery as well as his ally’s during the Great Depression. It’s sick asf. But imagine seeing Batman like this during that time period. If u see or read the Gotham 1919 novel, I’m sure you’ll kno what I mean.

I think this is a accurate portrayal of batman. Batman is very stealthy, so seeing him is rare and if you did you would think you saw a demon. Also, you wouldn't know if he is on your side or not which is also scary for good or bad guys. Good thing batman is extremely popular cause thats the only thing that makes him less scary and more understood. I would imagine villains would still be terrified when they see him though.
