My son and I just did this at my dad's house, turning a dumpy carport into a real 2 car garage. We extended the concrete etc. But wow, what a difference it makes not only to the function of his house, but also the curb appeal. I did things a different way than yours, but good job guys - looks great!

I wonder do u need to cut a hole in old roof to vent it to new roof. How come you guy choose this over hip roof since there is an addition with a hip roof on the property already. Was old roof have peel and stick on it and that’s why there still some black tar left. And what make the owner want to pitch their roof? Thanks. I’m going to do this but a hip roof tie in another hip roof for my house so I basically had to design a roof and tie in using softwares and looking at around the neighborhoods.

what's the point of resting the beam on those 4x4 posts? most framers I've seen raise the beam with the front and rear rafters

Flat roofs are far far FAR superior 😢 (when done by professionals) its a shame to see shingle companies sloping them cause they don't have the skill set to install correctly 👎
