I keep a small 12V air compressor in my trunk. Not only can you top off the air on your tires at home instead of a service station, I have always been able to make it to a tire repair place without worry about changing a tire, waiting on a tow truck or using a can of that stuff. Yeah, it won't work with big damage on a sidewall, but most flats are from a nail or screw that's still stuck in the tire, so a slow leak.

I own a 2023 Outlander PHEV, which I love. I had my first flat today and used the tire repair kit, which was easy to use but wanted to ask if you can only use it once, since the sealant runs through the compressor? If so, what is the cost to replace and if not, how do you prep for next flat?? new sealant [proprietary to Mits], etc......Thanks

Thanks, looks like there's a space for the compact tire. Looks easy removal for the 3rd seats as well.

They should have removed the third row instead and opted for space for a spare tire. Calling road side assistance takes time and often times costs more. If you take trips to remote areas you get more confidence that a spare tire is available in case you get a flat tire. No spare tire is a bum thing...sometimes the sealants being chemical preparations can expire and be useless when emergencies arise.

I have read that the new gen.4 Outlander has a feature where it honks the horn of the car when refilling tires with air once the correct air pressure is reached. Can you make a video and show how it works? I do not think that I have seen any other car which does that. It would be also cool to see how the tire pressure menus work in the instrument panel, e.g. what information one can see there. The previous gen. 3 Outlander was very limited, because it only warned about the low pressure in some tire but could not determine which tire has issues so one would have to manually check all tires to find it.

I don't understand - the current outlander has spare tire underneath the 3rd row. What's the different with the new one with slightly bigger chassis?

You can put a 2003-2015 Nissan Murano Spare Tire Wheel Rim Donut 18" T165/90/D18. when you remove the 2 black plastic where they put the repair kit and pump you have the space tu put the spare tire and close the 3 road seat looking all stock. The murano spare tire 18 inch is a perfect fit on the 2022 outlander lug nuts and don't hit the brake caliper.on my local junkyard a spare tire cost me 9.99 plus tax easy fix.

What are you going to say about 2022 outlander LE router. I spent 53,000 . Not even 4 months router making big noise. When mitsubishi going to repair that?

Spare tire for outlander?? I just bought new outlander, very uncomfortable without spare. I am going to try a compact spare (donut ),from Nissan Murano . The nisssn uses a 20” wheel and I’m hoping the spare would fit in the wheel well under the third row… The Nissan has same diameter but is quite a bit narrower then Mitsubishi wheel.

I got my Jeep tire punctured after a week of purchase. There was a big tear on side wall so it wasn't fixable. In such scenarios sealant is absolutely useless unless you have a spare tire in your trunk. Why don't they put a thin tire under the seat instead tire sealant kit??

Do I need to removed the screw/nails that cause the puncture before injecting the sealant? Or leave it?

Hi ! All very well. But what happens when I have a major major damage to the tyre and I am in a very remote rural road of New Zealand. No cell phone coverage in some areas. Despite this video, a spare tyre is very handy. But I guess with weight, space etc etc, many car manufacturers are going this way. Auckland. NZ

I guess you are talking about the US spec. Because in New Zealand there is a space saver tyre under the rear seats. How do I know? Because I work on them.

Wow! I was "all in," for the 2022 SEL AWC model. But, as a female driver, who can change a tire. I know sealants are horrible for flats, you gotta buy a new tire, which I learned from experience n purchasing another tire. N if there is a side hit or blowout, this will not work. N who wants to sit in the dark, on a little traffic road, n I am not letting someone change or help, unless road assistance or law enforcement with ID proof. I was really liking this SEL for the powertrain n other accessories, now, I got to keep looking, n I wanted 7 seater... So disappointed, glad I saw this video. Thanks!

Im shocked anout this news. I just bought an Outlander and had mo idea there was no spare tire.

This made me sad knowing my luck with tires and no spare 😢 I hope I never have to use these but either way I will probably look into getting a donut tire and removing all of the foam and laying it under the seats because I don't like the idea of no spare

In Peru, 2022 Oulander will arrive in april. It was the question...it'll have a spare tire? What problem!. Our city roads have many flaws.....and in offroad situations, we always need a spare tire.

3rd row seats and NO rear A/C. Some really sorry marketing right there. The first thing I did was remove all the rear headrests so I could see out of the rear window. I'm seriously considering a hitch mounted, swing-away full size spare!

So. You get a flat and use the sealant. If sealant ruins a tire, you need a new one. But with AWD and 4WD models, you are supposed to by four tires all at the same time every time you need a new one. Seems like I am keeping my 2012 RAV4 after all.

Thanks bud , i went to 8 gas stations to put air in my tires and all air pumps were out of order , so i will just use the compressor ... as for a spare tire i have one on the back , what a pain in the ass it is..

That might be a deal breaker for a lot of people, after the five year roadside is done, you are screwed when you have one to help, and you have to buy more of the sealant which is more money out of your pocket!!!!!

Maybe tell people to remove the valve core before pumping the sealent in the tire.

You can carry a small tire repair kit ( tire plugs) in the trunk.

I have never experienced any issues with my tires , nothing that makes me use the spare tire so not a big deal I guess just change your tires when is time to do so, don’t let them wear out to a dangerous level.

Calling? Haha, that will take a long time to deliver.!!! I would prefer a ready one tire to replace the damage tire especially when it happens on the long rural highways.

Do used Outlanders come with roadside assistance? Many tire shops will not repair a tire that has that sealant in it. Therefore, because that vehicle is most likely an AWD, you WILL have to replace ALL of the tires. It would be best to have a spare tire and a jack/tire iron in your vehicle. Or have it towed to the nearest tire shop.

This won't work in some countries. Some countries to realized u hv a flat tyre then is a big nail which has pierce into ur tyre and the only option is to change the tyre and what re you going to do.. This is serious disadvantage.

How can you offer a 4WD option on any vehicle and no spare? If you shred a tyre on a dirt track you are in real trouble.

So what if you have a sidewall blowout! that tire inflation kit is not going to do you any good...road side assistance would have to tow u to a local tire shop for tire replacement..if it's within company hrs of operation. just saying!

I have the 2020 model with a full size spare. I like the look of the new 2022 model but I won't buy one because it doesn't have a full size spare tyre. I don't like vehicles that have space saver tyres or repair kit only. Bad move Mitsubushi in design.

As a guy driving it , it might be ok but my wife will be driving it with the kids so now this might be a big deal breaker for me .

Do you realize how many people drive around on mini spares because they cant afford a new tire? Using slime or tire sealer only works if there's a small puncture. If it's a sidewall slash or tear, forget it.

Holy crap, I was really considering the Outlander. No spare tire is a deal breaker. If I get a flat tire I'm not going to wait for help, give me that spare tire so I can get back on the road. Fail Mitsubishi, get rid of that useless third row that no one will use and put in a full size spare tire.

Don't buy a vehicle without a spare tire I made the mistake of buying a 22 outlander further I've contacted over 20 tire/rims shop a to buy a compact spare tire THEY DON'T HAVE IT NOT EVEN MITS CUSTOMER SERVICE COULD HELP ME.

There IS physically room for a spare tire!!! The room is PHYSICALLY under the vehicle!!! They just don’t tell you that until you are in the situation when you need to use the spare…EVEN when you ASK IF THE VEHICLE HAS A SPARE!!! They tell you yes, guess what!?!?!? You don’t!!! 🙄

This is nonsense. If you remove the tray that is holding the fix a flat kit, you have enough room for a donut size spare tire. I will not buy a car without a spare. If you get a puncture on the wall of the tire[ and it can happen] that fix a flat kit is useless. You are stranded and you better have AAA because you will need be towed. If you don't have AAA, you will pay through the nose for that tow depending on how far the nearest service center is. I'd rather stick with the Subaru Forester and the easily accessible spare under the cargo floor.
