Visiting Boston a few years ago I asked for a traditional flat-top , not fully understanding the terminology when the barber said , " a full shoe, strip and walls? " I just nodded. I ended up like this but with the back, sides and landing strip lathered and shaved smooth.

This is the best shoe I've seen on You Tube. Cut the way its supposed to be done with the landing strip blended in not carved out like most of the hacks that attempt this cut. Great job, superior skills resulting in an excellent flat top.

Thank you! I am the cameraman. I have a pair of eyeglass cameras. They are a little hard to judge where you are filming. I charge $15. I have a Norelco for the sides and I'm training an apprentice right now, so I will be getting back into straight razors so I can train him.

I gotta sit in that chair someday, I'm not too far away.

Anyway, my barber, in Boise, does the best flat of any that I've found, however, I think that he's about ready to move to AZ. :( I'm not sure what I'm going to do when/if that happens. Your barbering skills are off the hook but would really love to watch your master transformation skills. Suggestion: Slow down the video, let us watch this amazing transformation and go to the next level and let us watch the making of the horseshoe and take a hot leather shave over the landing strip and sides and back to show what a real marine horseshoe flattop is all about. i got a flattop but its a bit to short on top, how do i ask for it to be a tad longer? would that still be considered a flattop?
