My last video on the flat wrap or directional wrap technique was with a model who had coarse straight hair and bald sides. This time I showed the technique with longer sides and wavy frizzy texture.

It's so funny how different our perspectives on what looks good can be. My hair naturally looks like the end result of this with just air drying and yet I desperately wish my hair looked like this dude's hair *before* the blowdry.

I get it! That’s what keeps me in business 🤪 if everyone was happy with their hair I’d have to go be an accountant or something

Nooo, you have the best hair and you want to change! hahaha, you know how crap my hair is, with lots of waves and curls and straw, I don't know how to make it long without looking like a crazy bird, I'd change it for you, it's uncontrollable, people who have straight hair don't realize how privileged it is.

Started using this method of yours since today. Just applied a pea size argan oil and tresemme heat protectant and did this method for half hour. My hair definitely has some volume and less frizziness as compared to the previous blowdrying techniques that I used. I hope I can get better at making my hair straight with this process day by day and some day I can achieve a straight hair look.

thank you for this. i've been using this technique for years on my coarse, wavy hair and it works great. just want to point out that the concentrator attachment is a must for good results.

Can Got2Be SurferLook Paste be a substitute for the gel used in the video? Can a smaller version of the paddle brush be as effective?

Thank you so much for the easy technique, however the blow dry doesn't last me even a couple of hours, is there anything I can do, i have similar hair to the one on this video

Game-changing video; thank you so much for putting it out there! I came to your channel and this video because of BluMaan's reference to you and your video on his. Question for you: I just bought a new hair dryer that only has Off/Low/High with a Cold Shot button you have to keep pressing. There isn't any way to keep the speed Low while keeping the heat level High. I noticed that you mentioned in your video that this combination of Low Speed/High Heat is the key to getting the hair to lay correctly/smoothly and to look good when blown. Is there any "hack" or technique you might suggest as a workaround for not having a hair dryer with the extra settings, or do you recommend I look into purchasing a hair dryer with said settings? Any insight would be much appreciated; thank you in advance!

I can never pull this off, maybe it's the brush I'm using I don't know. Even the top is difficult for me let alone the frigging sides and back. So what I do is then lift the hair with my brush if you will, and then blow dry it, that almost gets it to do what I want.

i literally try to grow my hair just as model you use for video. have very thick coarse hair and some point i always give up. i try every product on market and you tell me that solution is simply 10 min blowdryier? dude... best one question i have: after blowdry can i use little bit product for final adjustment?

Wow.... this answer my questions in my whole life. not even kidding, I was wondering if my wavy, hard to maintain, can look silky smooth and easy to maintain, here it is, I just need to copy step by step and the tools too. But one question, is it OK to do this everyday? Will it damage my hair?
@andrewdoeshair4 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your hair, some hair is more fragile than others. Get a heat protectant if you’re worried about it. But heat damage is very VERY rare on relatively short hair. In another video I blow dried the same hair 30 times trying to damage it and it barely changed, then I tired to burn it off and I couldn’t. If you’re trimming your hair monthly you’ll likely trim off anything that might become damaged.

Hi question: My hair goes from right to left, but I let my barber cut my sidepart because it goes the other way. If i grow it back, will my hair stay when flat wrapping? My barber doesn’t know anything about flat wrapping. Question 2: At the front I have a cowlick??? It’s like a bald spot. Can I do anything about it? I tend to never use a post styler because it’ll show my bald spot more.

hey andrew, what about the fact that high heat ruins hair? I always mess up them pretty bad when I use high heat to "iron" them
@andrewdoeshair4 жыл бұрын
I have a video about that! It’s not bad if you do it right. Shawn here does this to his hair once a week, and as you can see in the video, his hair is healthy 🤘

Hey Andrew, would using a boar bristle version of the paddle brush be better/worse for flat wrapping hair? I'm torn between getting Ibiza's CX2 or CX6.
@andrewdoeshair4 жыл бұрын
It depends on how much tension you need! More tension will make the hair straighter and flatter, but I’m some hair too much tension will make it (of course) too straight and flat for certain styles
@Molten-Throne4 жыл бұрын
See I have wavy super fine hair and no matter how I try this technique my hair does not have that flow, that soft movement to it. It becomes stiff and will begin to wave and curl up. I can get it to have softer movement if I add a lot of hair oil, or serum but I have to add a lot and it makes my hair look too shiny and eventually waves up. I don’t know Mayhap I’m the only one that has these problems

It's all about time. Depending on your hair type, this technique is going to be time-consuming. Your blow dryer should also be on high heat and high speed.
@slasheerr9463 жыл бұрын
That usually happens when you're doing these two things wrong 1. You need to add a lot of tension to actually straighten it. If you're doing this without putting much tension on the hair, you are literally just locking in "wavy" hair at that point, get a good paddle brush or 9 row brush to add a lot of tension to your hair. 2. The heat coming out of your blow dryer actually needs to be really hot, some blow dryers just can't deliver enough heat maybe because their filter got clogged or they are just not powerful enough. You need actual heat to straighten your hair, mine literally makes me sweat by the time I'm done. Heat definitely makes all the difference hair, with enough heat, you can change any hair texture into anything. Also, a concentrator attachment is also needed for this trick to work, especially a very concentrated concentrator, it will give you faster and better results. I've also noticed that adding a product as pre styler that has hold in it also significantly improves the ability to control and teach the hair the way you want it to lay. Keep in mind, if it's a very high hold product, add a very little amount otherwise, your hair would become stiff half way through the technique. I also wouldn't recommend putting in waxes or pomades since they usually have very high hold, a clay or a putty, even a paste can help and will deliver drastically better results, just focus on the amount. I also like to add Olaplex no.6 and no.7 for smoothing, taming frizz, and heat protectant since by the time I'm done, I'm sweating really hard. Let me know if this helps!

@@slasheerr946 would you recommend using mousse as a prestyler tho?
@slasheerr946 Жыл бұрын
@@itsliterallyryangosling Looking for volume? Definitely, most people don't apply enough moose though. Always a little more than you think is "enough" and you should be golden! Also, when it comes volume, your hair length has the biggest impact on whether your hair can hold volume or not. When hair is long enough, no matter what product you put in as pre or post styler, your hair simply won't be able to hold volume. I used a finishing spray to set my hair and my hair still lost volume when It was relatively long, and that "hairspray" is set out to have pretty amazing hold, almost immoveable, in my case? It just added grittiness to my hair but no volume. Pay really close attention to your hair length!

How long does this whole operation last?
@andrewdoeshair3 жыл бұрын
With a great hairdryer I can do this in 5-6 minutes or so. With a cheap hairdryer it would take 12-15 minutes, maybe more. The results last until the hair is wet.
