I prefer brushing on the hip over stitches in the shin. Clipless is just better, if you got the mental capacity for them.

@bikesonline I just want to ride! I'm tired of all the complications. Riding in its most simplistic form is the most enjoyable. I find I can ride farther, faster, and more comfortable when I leave all the complications behind.

I do like and favor flats over clips In case of an “Oh Crap” situation I do like the ability to bail but If I can’t get my foot free in time…in most cases…you really don’t have time to get free…”This is about to hurt” is what comes to mind just before you wreck x.x

How about clipless with pins and the tension dialed low with multi-release cleats? I haven't tried it but it seems like it would give some extra connection to the bike over flats while still allowing you to bail if you forget to twist your ankle. Or would it just be a disaster to do this?

I’d say depends on your preference but their are more advantages to the clip in the only thing seen as a disadvantage is getting out of them and I’d say if your not great at hand eye coordination and have a quick reaction time stay with the flat pedals because I’ve seen even on a road bike crashes that could have been less brutal if the rider could react and unclip fast enough….. while I can get out of them quickly and efficiently many people can’t so that’s my input. Their great but not for everyone and the amount of advantage is only gain is really only seen in more extreme riding or long distance riding where efficiency is important if it’s just backyard trails flats are great, cheap and reliable.

it's not just about reaction time, I have seen clipless pedals get stuck only allowing one foot to unclip in time leading to a LOT of hurt. Now clipless pedals are great when there is low risk, but i think for high risk, high consequence trails it's just not worth the risk.

Magnetic, I prefer bridge the gap and have the capability of both without fully being locked into my bike in the event of a crash

Flats! All the way! Flats make you a better ride and you have better mechanics and proper positioning when on flats! And lastly there is not as lbig difference in pedal efficiency! Todays flats with tall pins and grippy compound on shoes make it easy to pedal in a good cadence
