Great convo and insight regarding Skepta. Here's what you may need to know regarding Skeppy. #1 He is a King... No seriously...dude is a crowned Chief in Nigeria but even before, his experience and the way he carried himself and the whole UK grime scene on his back is that of one who represents true leadership. I think his role as the oldest of 4 African siblings at a time where African immigrants to the UK suffered some social ostracism has shaped at least part of his character however the topical range of his musical selections, mannerisms, and ability are all top notch, highly intellectual and just flat out dope. As you probably already guessed, I rate Skepta very highly. I think he ranks in the top tier of rappers/urban artists across the entire rap world, spanning both sides of the Atlantic. His personal romantic linkages with Naomi Campbell and now Adele only enhance the kingly vibe and energy. More than any other rapper, Skepta continues to build his brand on the African continent, so he has a claim to being the top rapper in the world today, in terms of global recognition. But then it goes back to the BARS which are always top notch. Other joints you should check out- 1) Epic Lord of the Mic battle between him and Devilman 2) Energy 3) IC3 with Ghetts 4) Nang with D Double E 5) the joint with Chip and Ambush (can't think of the tune now) 6) joint with Blood Orange 7) join with Diesel Dpower. BTW, his 2015 album Konnichiwa is a certified classic and a great global example of the classic Grime energy. I know yall really love Dave, and that love is deserving. Although Skepta belongs to an older generation, Dave is probably the only rapper of the younger generation capable of carrying the UK variant of rap global the way Skepta already has.

My opinion on the ex girlfriend thing. There is nothing wrong with breaking up with someone if you think they are not going in the direction you want to move, or that they are wasting their time. BUT when you see them make it and try to slide your way back into their life now that they're famous, it comes across as disingenuous and in most situations nobody with any self respect would let them back in. Finding a real relationship with fame is hard, because you have to figure out who just wants you for the fame/income/status you bring, so an ex who only comes back when you get famous already has a big red X in that box.
